Ooh, hanadama. I love that necklace too! Here's a shot of my new ring from the PP sale, with my diamond bands. I just love that pearl. In real life, it's a wonderful metallic mauve copper color.

BPD- I learned my lesson about asking questions and waiting for answers with the big sales. They're too likely to sell out in the meantime. If you can, I'd suggest just getting one and sending it back if you don't like it.

In general, there's not a standard scale for pearl grading so each seller can set their own. Therefore, with strands from two different vendrs, you'd just have to compare the strands in question themselves to determine which one is superior.

I guess the rhyme and reason for any of it is based on rarity which then translates into price (as long as demand is there too), and informally into status or "acceptability." Un-dyed akoya and Tahitian pearls are rarer than freshwater pearls so it makes sense that dyed ones would follow suit...

That's adorable, LV! Here are a couple more shots of my new AA+ oval silver Tahitian strand (8-10mm). It does have a few dings, fishbites or whatever you'd call them but they're not very noticeable behind the high luster and if I think of it, I can turn them to the back anyway. I couldn't...

The multicolor metallic double-length strand and the bracelet are on their way back if anyone wants to put in a request to PP for them. The strand looks beautiful against white or light colors but I already have a few strands that do and only one neck, so... I debated about the bracelet all...

Here's a drive-by quickie shot of today's arrivals: 8-10mm silver Tahitians, a double strand of the 7-8mm multicolor metallics, and the 11-12mm fireball bracelet in 14k yellow gold. I'm definitely keeping the Tahitians. I'll probably send the metallic multicolor freshwater (double-length)...
