    First Beading Project Ever

I just did a couple lavenders. Gray 8-9mm (supposedly, haven't measured it) with pink amethyst and silver magnetic ball clasp. Strung with 10lb power pro as the drill-holes wouldn't fit the 20lb twice - broke a couple. This is a necklace, but I just put it round as a triple strand bracelet...

LOL You guys crack me up. I bought a pair of Nike Shox on ebay, and I got two left shoes. The seller was really nice, and is sending me a new pair FOC. She probably lost two pairs' worth of money in total. I just finished a pearl/rose quartz bracelet for a friend, will do the matching necklace...

    Pearl Harvesting

I thought the pearl sac remained in the freshwaters, so there is no need for regrafting of any epithelial tissue - it's already there. It's amazing they even survive though.

Curator reveals fascinating facts about pearls

Eww!!! Why did you have to say that?

Thanks for all that. Non-pierced isn't a problem. All you have to do is find the appropriate finding, the hoop is the same as for ear wires, which is why I used that interchangeably. What kind of practice wire do you use? I've seen argentium silver wire locally but not sure I want to practice...

The art of opening and closing a necklace - managable clasps

Do pearls have to be custom drilled for the Cliclasp? I still say magnetic is the best. If only they make decent solid gold ones that don't break the bank. I'm fine with good looking gold-filled too, though my vermeil aren't bad.

Have LBCers ever done a Yuletide Swap?

I'm generally not a fan of mail exchange a month prior to Christmas. If you guys want to get started it's wise to start really early. I've nearly always lost packages for December orders, even local ones. I also think international swaps would be extremely difficult and increase the chances of...

Nice work! Now, I've never made earrings before, so I'm going to ask some dumb questions. Apart from the ear wires (or clip-ons/screwbacks since I don't have pierced ears) the main components of your earrings would be the head pin, pearls/gemstones, chain and jump ring to attach multiple...

I did the other strand from the same lot - it came as a pair. The picture in the ad showed something more peachy/golden, like this one, so I was very pleasantly surprised to get the pure baby pink strand. This is a comparison between the two - the variation is subtle - my eyes must be ultra...

Thanks, Nerida. Magnetic clasps are the best, aren't they? So strong ... only thing is if you get the polarity wrong with double strands it just flips over. Kinda cute, really. ;P

LOL I posted the keshi before bed, so it probably got knocked back with the beading board discussion. Well, knotting itself is quick. I can probably do an 18" strand in 30 min. But it's actually getting the pearls on the string that takes a bit longer ... I would say it takes a full hour from...

Just finished knotting the strand and will be wearing it out. Grocery shopping.

    First Beading Project Ever

I think I may have found the perfect baby pink strand! Granted they are a bit small but at least they weren't downsized - it's supposed to be 8mm but I measured 7.5-8.5mm, so it's pretty good. Almost round and blemish free but not quite, excellent, almost metallic luster throughout. Clasp is a...
