    SSP vs FWP blemishes

I asked for some but this is the best they had... Even the pearls that present as round in the other pics look like eggs here.

    SSP vs FWP blemishes

Here is another shot showing a couple more pearls with dimples: There is a dent on the pearl just left of the clasp at 11 o'clock and 2 on the pearl 2nd rom the clasp on the right 1 just above center and 1 at 9 o'clock. I finally figured how t post larger pictures. and another showing more pearls:

    SSP vs FWP blemishes

I enlarged one pic and the middle pearl exhibits the dimple to which I referred.

    SSP vs FWP blemishes

I am looking at a necklace that looks to me like SSP/Tahitian (dark coloring) but the pictures I am seeing are distorted. My question for starters is if the "dimples" I see on most SSP strands to one degree or another are also a factor on FWP's. The surface looks to me exactly like the SSP...

    Akoya or FWP's?.2 100" rope

This may be a question for another subject but if I re-string knotting every pearl how much length will I gain say every 50 pearls @7.2mm ea? If I can project that gain I can cull the worst ones including non-damaged but lesser quality pearls

    Akoya or FWP's?.2 100" rope

They certainly have lived a life. If re-strung the damaged ones could certainly be deleted. There aren't many so the overall presentation is still quite nice. May be a good project for the shut in to come.

    Akoya or FWP's?.2 100" rope

In order as best I can: 1: As these are pre-owned and show wear I guess finished strand 2: The thread is doubled and has no sheen so it looks cotton? to me. 3: The roundness varies (will show in pics) 4: the blemishes vary as well from orange peel on a few to some slight bumpiness on others, to...

    Akoya or FWP's?.2 100" rope

Can anything be inferred by the lack of knots between the pearls?

    Akoya or FWP's?.2 100" rope

This just arrived also weeks late (not their fault). I think I know what they are but the bead nucleated Chinese have me confused. They are 7-7.5mm. Boy did the bath take a while!

+1 I was thinking cage for the silver and hanger up top but that application is brilliant! Who did the actual production of the piece? Do they sell the findings themselves? I have found a dearth of options either premade or for components!

Thanks again Cathy. You're thinking along the same lines that I am. I was planning to create a removable pendent for primary use on a baguette diamond single strand necklace that won't lay well (twists) unless weighted by a slide or pendent. I was trying to decide if the hinged bale would need...

As always I am learning with every post! Thank you!!! I finally got up the courage to raid the table linens and took a few shots. You guys might see a difference but my eyes don't pick it up. Would this be as Cees said a consistent strand?

    just arrived...2 weeks late

I was wondering after looking at threads showing new strands (and comparing with the single) whether the luster on these may have "mellowed" with age/use or is it still decent?

I have to assume that if the receipt that came with it represents this strand they are natural color. The photos don't really convey the variations accurately. I will try to get an outdoor shot in natural light when the sun comes back out.

Thanks Cathy! I have a question relating to my last post, are these too big to suspend an enhancer comprised of a bale , short baguette diamond chain and our 11mm silver? do the colors work?

My wife fianally let me in on the fact that while she likes all these white pearls I've been getting her she REALLY wanted some nice Tahitians (I guess like most males my mind reading gene didn't develop) so I bought these in an auction on the west coast. I bought them in "plenty" of time to...

    Tahitians? Type and repair questions

I figured, but like I say she likes them for knocking around/work. Everything else she has is a little too formal.
