    Pearl Drill

I end up using two sizes for the cups, mostly - I can find out which ones exactly, they have several sizes - it was on the recommendation from Takano, the gentleman who works there (and speaks very good English!) , when I told him what size range I mainly worked with. Also, I got the rubber...

    Pearl Drill

They sell a version that is not the "portable one", and sits on a wider base. I like the fact that you can move this one, if need be. I use mine just stand-alone, not bolted down, and it works fine. It is quite heavy, it has what looks like a cast iron, or heavy steel frame - and has rubber...

    Pearl Drill

Hi CathyK, Yes of course, it turns, very consistently and precisely. The grip that holds the pearl flips exactly 180 degrees, and lines up perfectly, very time. I have found it to be a very solid pearl drill, and capable of drilling small, and large sizes equally well. I think it's a fair...

    Pearl Drill

Ckrickett, I have using the one from Yotsuba and it is very precise and well built. Feels like something that will last a long, long time. It's the 'portable pearl drill' on their website. They ship it to you quickly as well.

Cast your votes! : Natural coloration, or treated in some way?

Jersey I have not. But I know the other pearl pictures that these guys put out, quite well. And I feel that overall, they fairly represent color. I have seen some of their other super colorful bracelets in real life, and they do look like on their pictures.. It's just that these pearls, the ones...

I think that is what she meant. Take some natural light pictures for us and show us the colors of his pearls with no Lightbox!

Yes, I do actually - that is Victor. Those pearls on his website banner are stunners! He has a nice lease on the North side of Mangareva and has been producing for a while. They are one of the better known producers on the island. Nice quality.

I thought about the lightbox too. But what is interesting is that the other pictures of their pearls are shot the same way, but none of them look like this. The colors are much more subdued compared to this mini-lot pictured above. I would think they would use the same lighting techniques for...

These are Tahitian pearls from a producer in the Tuamotus. I don't believe I have ever seen anything that looks like this kind of color in Tahitians before. I wanted to ask the PG community what they thought of these body colors, if they believe them to be natural, or enhanced in some way. Has...

    Mangareva Beauties

Pearl Dreams, thanks for sharing this. I have traveled quite bit through the South Pacific, and it seems that this same kind of scenario has happened over and over, in many countries. Look at Fiji, or Hawaii for example. The colonists basically came in and imposed their gods in the cruelest...
