This actually sounds encouraging. The current situation certainly leads to confusion when trying to compare pearls. I'm curious why they are hesitant to grade freshwater pearls. Any ideas why? Why not have a consistent grading for Freshwater pearls as well?

Thanks for all the replies. Ross Simons has has an interesting pearl ring that somebody posted on PG (with channel set small freshwater pearls), so that's why I ended up looking at the site when the coupon arrived in my email. I didn't plan on actually buying them, but thought it interesting...

I receive 20% discount coupon today for Ross Simmons and took a quick look at their pearls. I saw a necklace that really seems to be nucleated freshwater pearls (can that be at regular jewelry department store?). What do you think? Ross Simons John
