This was my thought, as well. My white metallic pearls are comparable to Akoyas, but kinder to my wallet.

Pearls arrived. I really like them, they are comfortable to wear and have a nice crisp lustre. I don't think mine look pink, but I can see a slight pink when compared to white freshwaters. Photo of my 12 Days baroque Akoya from PP (sorry, no neck shots). I'm not the best at photographing...

I'm thinking about converting a 64" rope into two strands. Say, a 20" necklace and the remainder at 44". Is this a stupid idea? Can a 44" strand be doubled without a clasp? Clasps on both would be best so that I could connect them again. Would I have to restring the entire necklace? Could I cut...

I didn't find the ad itself, but I did a Google search for the image and found the company. When you go to their website, there is a pop-up to get on their list and the pop-up has the image with the bathtub. I don't want to post their name -- no free advertising.

I think that's the idea. There's another shot of her in a sexy robe and he's in the bathtub. And I don't think she's his mother. The designer has some odd ideas. There's a bracelet with a clasp that looks like a hand grenade, and a pendant that looks like an old-style gas mask.

I think they look like freshwater pearls. In one of the other photos, you can see a lot of glue, as well. I'd pass. Some eBay listings are priced for the gold content more than the gems.

And at the same time, pearls like to be worn. New pearls come to life after being worn a few times. Thanks for the photo, Jeremy. Very impressive!

Please let us know. I have souffle pearl earrings, and would like a pendant. I like the size without the weight, and the lustre, of course.

Does anyone have any photos of irradiated (not dyed) Akoya pearls? I'd love a side-by-side with natural silver blues.

I can attest to Google images. I've run a search for an image and mixed in the results were photos of items I had listed and sold on eBay. It's odd, but it happens. On the other hand, it does come in handy. After a computer crash, I had lost one of PP's glamour shots of a necklace I purchased...

They'd look cute in a fishbowl. Time to get a goldfish!

I agree with you, they looked very nice. I've seen dyed akoyas at a consignment shop. They were silver-blue baroques, and they looked okay from far away, but up close I could see the concentration of dye at the drill hole and some spots. ETA Regarding another comment, my silver blue baroques...

It's difficult to say if the pearls are real or not, since Lisa V. has a line of fashion jewelry; Estate Collection or something like that.

It's a very pretty clasp. I'd wear the flower in the front.

I first saw the black/white stud combo on Dina Merrill, in a film. I thought it was so chic!
