Can anyone tell me what kind of pearls these are?

The pearls look like dyed cultured freshwater pearls from China. I don't see a need for cleaning or restringing. Beading wire is very strong. As to the green stone, maybe aventurine?

The dark background swallows up luster. They do look like cultured Chinese freshwater pearls, though.

    Found at a thrift store

Agree, they are dyed freshwater pearls from China.

Type of metal used in Tin Cups

I like half hard gold filled wire best, or Argentium silver (but even that tarnishes eventually and if you use it with pearls, it will be hard to clean the piece.) I have used rose gold colored craft wire from Michael's for a very casual piece.

What kind of pearls are these? 18k gold hoops.

Nice earrings! :) They look like cultured akoya pearls. The technology was there to make high quality cultured pearls, but akoyas are not all perfectly round nor perfectly clean; there is bound to be a range of quality, seeing as they are formed in living oysters. These imperfect pearls are...

    Mystery graduated pearl necklace

To me they look like older Chinese freshwater pearls-- 1980s- early '90s or so. Perhaps the pearls were originally strung differently, and the previous owner made them into a 3 strand necklace with the current clasp.

The earrings are marked with a T

I'm replying just so you know we can see your post! But I am not familiar with that mark, sorry.

    Pearl necklace ID-ing

I think @BWeaves was replying to the first post, by @GregS. In reply to @Momspearls, it's hard to evaluate pearls photographed against a dark background. The pearls could be off-round akoyas (generic brand). Try the 2 tests I mentioned above in my previous post upthread-- the rubbing test and...

    Pearl necklace ID-ing

Those appear to be imitation pearls. The uniformity of their size, shape, color, luster, the absence of typical flaws seen in real pearl necklaces, lack of pearl overtone colors and the inexpensive way they are finished all point to imitation pearls. Unless the clasp is stamped with a karat...

I just want to say that whether or not the necklace is Mikimoto brand, it is obviously a treasured sentimental item, the pearls are real pearls, the clasp is gold, and it will look even better when it is cleaned and restrung. I hope they will be enjoyed in good health for many years to come!

    Inherited pearls

They look like imitation pearls to me. The uniformity of the shape, size, color, luster of the pearls, the lack of overtones, and the low end way they are finished and attach to the clasp all tend to indicate imitation pearls. I see dark areas on some of the pearls. Is this grime, or are these...

Please help identify these , 65 pearls not sure where from, my mother gave them to me thank you

Washing them is easy! You can do it yourself. Swish a bit of mild soap in some water. I prefer to use distilled water to avoid both chlorine and possible hard water minerals, which combine with soap to make a hard to remove scum. (I speak from experience. Our well water is hard.) Then soak the...

Just a guess but it may be tricky to assign a replacement value to a strand with an amethyst clasp, if they are not making such a clasp any more.

You literally cannot hurt the pearls by restringing. It's only thread and overhand knots! :) If you decide you want to give it a try, here is a link to the tutorial: https://www.pearl-guide.com/threads/stringing-tutorial-with-photos-stringing-on-serafil-beaders-secret-power-pro.6604/

My understanding is that Mikimoto can give you a certificate of replacement value if you have the original certificate number, if you really feel the need to insure them. However this is a service that is not inexpensive, and you would have to pay to ship them both ways. If your wife would like...

Looks to me like a strand of akoya pearls. The clasp seems to read 9 KT or 8 KT, can't tell. They could use cleaning and restringing! You can find a tutorial and some videos on the Lowly Beaders Club section. Many of us restring our own pearls; it isn't hard. :)

Iv no idea what these are.Any thoughts?

I looked in Clasps: 4000 Years of Fasteners in Jewellery by Anna Tabakhova (who is a member of Pearl Guide, username @CLICLASP). On p. 107 it states that spring rings were invented around 1840. So that is possible. To be certain that those are natural pearls, though, I think you'd really have...

They both appear to be akoya necklaces. The small strand would benefit from restringing.
