Pls help me identify my 3 pairs of pearl earrings bought online

I recall that with vermeil there was usually a layer of nickel between the gold and sterling silver, so not acceptable in many countries because of nickel allergies.

Pls help me identify my 3 pairs of pearl earrings bought online

Thank you for the additional photos. I see a few light blemishes typical of freshwater pearls. I agree with Pearl Dream's analysis. The dark gold may be dyed. Are you pleased with how the earrings look on you? The backings are a good design to keep the earrings from drooping. The white and...

    Tahitian Pearls?

I agree with Pella and Pearl Dreams. Such intense blue purple colors are typical of dyed pearls, not Tahitians.

Thank you for your photos, geminigurl. I'm unable to tell much from the photos. It's best to photograph against a white paper towel with more close up photos. Can you share the website you purchased from? I'm not familiar with Micron Setting either.

    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

CTD, it is a good question and you might want to ask Kamoka if they have changed their focus. The smaller sizes you mention would be first harvest pearls, which are known for high luster and fewer blemishes. If the oysters are healthy, a nucleus the size of the harvested pearl is inserted to...

    Knotting an Endless Necklace

I start an endless necklace by putting on about 5-6 pearls leaving them unknotted, with a long tail at the end, use that bead stopper. Then start knotting your strand. When it reaches the length you want, including the unknotted pearls, finish with the same knots (half hitch) in Pearl Dream's...

HELP. The bead inside the pearl is loose!!!

Duh! Meant to also say that I used a thin sewing needle poked through the drill hole to manipulate the nucleus until the holes lined up, then followed the above process. With most pearls the misalignment wasn't too far off, thankfully.

HELP. The bead inside the pearl is loose!!!

Once you find and realign the nucleus, put a fine straight head pin through the pearl until you are ready to restring, then transfer to the stringing thread. My strand of blue baroque South Seas has multiple pearls with loose nuclei and for restringing they are held level and a pin inserted...
