    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

I'm sure a larger nucleus costs considerably more, so perhaps in addition to keeping costs down, smaller Tahitians seem to be trending, IMO. I missed my chance to get a small multicolor Tahitian necklace from PP around the beginning of the year It was quite beautiful at around 8-10mm or so...

    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

Yes! Smaller pearls are more colorful and lustrous, but t doesn't mean that can't be found in larger pearls if you look hard and long enough :)

    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

That stand was a total standout - the colors, the shapes, the way it's put together - so , so lovely. I went to look again and it's gone. It's been replaced by a similar strand, which is also beautiful, but I don't think it carries the same color punch. I've been wondering if water temps and...

    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

Very possible. Pearl prices do seem to be on a upswing, especially if set in solid gold. I've also noticed more offerings in sterling, gold filled and silicone earring backs to keep costs down.

    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

I used Kamoka as an example of what I've been seeing lately, which is smaller pearl offerings. Without a doubt, they have remarkable pearls. Just seem like they are trending smaller (at least to me).

    Are Tahitian pearl sizes shrinking?

I think all pearls are precious, but Tahitians are my absolute favorite due to the vast color range. Give me a large baroque or drop pearl full of color and character and I'm all in! It used to be very common for me to find pearl offerings in the 12-14mm size range. Now it's more common for...

Well, I may produce sloppy knots without the bourbon. The booze would just make it more fun :p I'll try stringing on the imitation strand I bought, but instinct tells me the Tasaki should be done by a pro. We'll see.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I bought a string of imitation pearls at the same time to do the very thing you suggested. I just feel like I may need a whole bottle of bourbon first. LOL

Thank you. Your skills are better than mine - I did not see this information. I know very little about vintage pearls. Based on the clasp design I would have thought 40s or 50s. I see I was was off by a decade or two.

Thank you. I like the necklace very much. It's unfortunate the necklace wasn't cared for better, but I think it's still quite lovely. I'm not sure I'm ready to take on stringing just yet. All the info and videos about it have been so helpful and informative, but never doing it before it...

I was lucky enough to find this vintage Tasaki necklace. The pearls are 6-6.5 mm and the length is 120 cm. Most of the pearls under high magnification show impurities that for the most part is not noticeable to the naked eye. The pearls are round, but appear distorted in some of the Is...
