Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

Beautiful and rare. A very cool clasp!

Contacting the Seller but in the meanwhile . . .

This necklace is going to be so out of my price range, lol. Maybe I can afford the company’s little pearl hedgehog. Kawaii!

Are the Tahitians natural colors? They are so vibrant, I thought “maybe they are dyed??” Or treated by some other method? I’m just looking though bc I’m on my way to Ban Island (no, really). https://pearl-house.jp/pearls/gra-chica/item04.html

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

Great minds and all that! We are all very lucky to be able to afford our lovely baubles . . . but I need to go back to Ban Island. Pearls are harder to quit than cigarettes and coffee.

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

After the realization that I will very likely never have the SSG keshi long necklace of my dreams, Tong's consolation prize arrived at my door. So, I feel better, lol. Here is my "new to me" 28-inch strand of Akoya golden pearls. They need re-stringing and the surface reflections may not be...

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

That is so very logical. So, in conclusion, I will have to spend the next 10+ years trying to assemble a nice SSG keshi necklace. IF I am lucky, I might succeed. [Insert little skull emoji here.]

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

Ugh. Round pearls are great, but variety is the spice of life. Also, keshis command premium prices nowadays . . . but I guess that there are fewer buyers for them.

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

Cosmetics! Seems like such a waste. If Tong cannot locate something in the next few months, maybe I will try to find a petite baroque SSG necklace. In the meanwhile, I'm not sure if she's on here but I just discovered SlyTugofSunshine on the Insta - a fantastically talented artisanal...

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

The pearls in the necklace at Gump's are not even that nice . . . the clasp is probably a large part of the price. I'm going to research if there is a particular time of year these are harvested or available. Maybe it is a timing thing. Also, I have my favorite pearl hunter looking for a...

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

There is nothing out there except at Gump’s (oh, the premium pricing) and strands of tiny misshapen things. Is there a reason there are not more of such necklaces on the market? Has Gump’s bought them all up? Don’t pinctada maxima produce Keshis in gold any more? Is the Philippines grinding...

    Identify Please

Just to add my newbie, amateur opinion, it IS hard to ID freshwaters cultured to look like Tahitians unless you've been looking at many pearls for many years. I've been looking at the pearl videos on CMW and other places out of curiosity and so I can maybe raise my rather sad "B" average (maybe...

    Pearl stringing advice needed

Lurking. Now that I’ve finally learned a half-hitch knot at the collapsible needle eye works (depending on thread size and drill hole size), I will try the Serafil. Been sticking with Griffin Nylon because of the built-in needles.

Welcome to the Lowly Beader's Club

The third necklace from my de-stash project. It’s a cute sort of choker length - a little longer. I’m wondering if this would look a lot better with bigger purple pearls at the front. Some nice Edison pearls . . . though I’d have to purchase them which is not very “de-stash”!! Any thoughts...

    How are these pearls strung?

Hoof clippers! I like it! So easy for fumble fingers. And, I can clip the clippers between two pearls and convert the necklace into a lariat style with a pendant - though it is a bit long. I just re-strung it and did add knots since the "bumpers" took up space. It ended up about an inch longer...

    How are these pearls strung?

Thanks, pella. The holes look to be “normal” sized, maybe on the small side since these pearls are 6.5-7 mm. I will definitely restring these on silk or nylon because they don’t drape well at all and it’s a long strand so drape is even more important (at least to me). I think I will not knot...

    How are these pearls strung?

I’m wearing a new Akoya strand today. I cannot figure out how they are strung. I figure they must be on wire because they are so stiff. But there are also these odd little wax (?) disks between the pearls. I bought them from a Japanese shop. Any insights? Should I restring them on silk...
