Like I said, I was fairly sure going in I was getting freshwater pearls. And for the price, size and length of this strand, I am happy with them. I know they are not as advertised. But I still got what I expected.
They are actually 12-14mm. And the stand is 38”. I purchased them from from eBay (I know!) The seller was from Hong Kong. And yes, he/she claimed they were “south sea” pearls. Although I suspected through the entire process these would be freshwater pearls, I decided to make the purchase. The...
Would you wonderful people tell me if you think this strand is south sea, or freshwater pearls, please? One is with a flash & one is without. Thank you so much!
If you’re talking about opening “real” oysters for a party, I would suggest ordering some fresh edible oysters first, then “shucking” (opening them) yourself to see how it goes. It is HARD to open an oyster. Even with a shucking knife. I worked at a restaurant while going to college that had an...
Thank you! I am really pleased. I wasn’t even aware of “Edison” pearls until coming here to you wonderful people. :) I have wanted a strand of South Sea pearls and a pair of earrings for a long time. I have many other strands of Akoyas and smaller freshwater. But no SS. I found my earrings for a...
Hi everyone! I first posted with concern that my SSP earrings may not be authentic. I took them to my jeweler and they in fact are authentic 15mm+ set in white 14kt gold. I’m so happy!! I also posted that I wanted to find a SS pearl necklace. Several of you suggested the freshwater “Edison”...
Thank you again, everyone, very much! It seems these Edison pearl strand are hard to find as they sell out very quickly. I did find a strand from a very reputable jeweler in Florida at an excellent price. They only had one. Yay me!! I’ll post photos when it arrives. I’m going to remain on my...
Thank you so much! You have all been so great! I own an Akoya pearl strand of 9mm pearls which I have had for many years. It’s about 35”. I have always wanted a triple strand of the same. I was shocked at the prices. The jeweler suggested freshwater pearls. I have several pieces with those too...
Thank you all who helped with their input on my 15mm SS pearl earrings I purchased on eBay. I do believe they are most likely authentic. But I am taking them to my jeweler in the morning just to be sure.
On to my next venture. I really want a White South Sea strand of pearls. I’d like a...
@Pattye, yes, I love the look of the earrings. They are big and bold. The setting and the backing support them very nicely. I don’t think the flaws would be that noticeable. They are the “look” I want. That being said, I still want to be sure they are real. @lilliefuzzysocks, yes, you are seeing...
Thank you so much, Pattye. Since I have tested the gold and examined more closely, I am thinking they are authentic as well. I will keep them if my jeweler agrees. They really are quite stunning. The settings are heavy with nice backings to hold the pearls up in their proper position.
