I don’t know much about pearls and I stand by these being dyed freshies. Also, GIA has multiple education courses. To become a graduate gemologist, you do not need to do anything associated with pearls. Someone who’s “GIA Certified” could have exactly zero professional education surrounding them.

Gold filled are my go-to. More money to spend on pearls, and they don’t tarnish as readily as plated or sterling!

As far as I know, quahog pearls are mainly a collector’s item. I have never personally seen a piece of jewelry utilizing them, aside from those very rare mixed natural pearl strands. I don’t see why they couldn’t be used, though. This little one is absolutely adorable.

I have had success getting really, really stuck knots out by heating up a sewing needle of appropriate size and slowly burning it away. Only ever tried with silk, which was slow going but effective. I did miss a couple of times, but it didn’t seem to damage the pearl, oddly enough.

They’re pretty blemished, but that’s also a personal choice. Some people, like me, don’t really care as long as the nacre is intact. Gives em some personality. Overall the color and luster on them seems beautiful.

Perhaps I am far too uneducated in the ways of brand importance but first of all: still having all the original paperwork and certificates for an item except for the clasp and said item suddenly loosing all brand value because of that loss is beyond stupid. That is all. However, would it not...

Comparing it to the only other listing I can find (sold or otherwise) it seems fair. Pearls are so much more complicated than colored stones!
