I can see why you're excited and delighted! The necklace and earrings are beautiful! I missed the Jack Lynch live stream, but I put myself on the waitlist for those earrings....guess that's not going to happen! :) Congrats, you did well!

Wow, I love that wave rope necklace! You rock those long necklaces and look so wonderful in them. I don't wear the long ropes but I think they look nice on you.

You look lovely! And yes, my neck photos bother me, too. :) However, I am positive that no one stares at our necks IRL because they look at our pearls!

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

While this isn't what I'm wearing today, I did take the pics and forgot to post them earlier this week. The longer strand is blue akoya from Oceans Cove, the double strand is a vintage blue akoya find from a local consignment shop, and the earrings are Sea of Cortez from the PP live stream in...

    Are these dyed?

I restrung them yesterday using Sky Serafil 30, and they look much better. The Navy Serafil 20 was too dark and too thick. Also, changing from the thicker thread shortened the length by an inch, which I prefer. I have included photos, but other than seeing that it's shorter, it's difficult to...

    Are these dyed?

@jeg - I didn't see any signs of dyeing around the drill holes, but I am not an expert. :) @pattye - They may have been irradiated as they are darker than I've seen on other blue Akoya. I have read that that before they became popular, there were bluer/darker strands available than what we see...

I was busy stringing pearls today! Both are new 'old' strands. The yellow akoyas are from Pacific Pearls and their discovered stash from Hong Kong. Yes, the pearls are gorgeous, but I love the story behind them, too. Just think, they've been waiting for someone to give them a home for 60 years...

    Are these dyed?

I just purchased some pearls from an online consignment site that often has items listed improperly. This strand was listed as 'dyed cultured pearls,' but I'm unsure if that's correct. I think they are blue baroque akoya. They are 7 - 7.5mm in size. The luster and color are great, but they are...

Tale of taking apart two 18-inch Tahitian strands

@lisa c - thanks for the kind words. @ennui - I have used the extender a lot, although I don't use it much during the warm months. But when it's cool and I'm wearing a lot of layers, it's nice to have a longer length.

Oh wow....when you said teeny tiny keshi, it didn't register just HOW teeny tiny they are until you put them in your hand! I wonder what size needle they used to string them. :) That is a beautiful piece!
