Thank you! funny how a new pair of earrings can be so exciting. I just love how simple and beautiful the design is. Your earrings are super cute. The (keshi?) shapes remind me of dolphins. I think they would be especially cute in summer. They would show off a tan.

Thanks...and your pendant is absolutely adorable. The landscapes are stunning. I love the west. The cactus landscape by the pool is very pretty. I have never seen a little cactus arrangement like that before.

I just received another SS golden pair from Pearl Paradise. These are the Eternal Collection. I am in love ❤️. Now I am on a self imposed ban for a while, but hey...I'm happy .

    Do these look Authentic Mikimoto?

Hi, they don't have the sharp luster I would expect. There are more practiced eyes than mine, but I am not seeing it. Maybe it's the lighting. The papers simply say "client declared Mikimoto", which is not strong proof. You could have them authenticated by Mikimoto upon receipt, but that sounds...

Mixing and matching - stringing a mix of beads and pearls safely

I think it's distortion. I tried to candle next to my Akoya and they did look similar. Oh well... this is exactly why one should buy from a good vendor or be prepared for mystery pearls :D. The appraisal simply says "cultured pearls", so not so helpful. You have a great point - it can be a win/win.

Mixing and matching - stringing a mix of beads and pearls safely

The pearls came today. They are a nice strand of Akoya. The holes check out and the seller included an old appraisal from 1990. The luster is nice, but not as sharp a luster as my other graduated strand of white akoya. They are pretty clean though. Wait, do they look like Akoya to you?

Mixing and matching - stringing a mix of beads and pearls safely

Thank you, this is so helpful. The funny thing is I completely forgot about bumpers and have some in my beading kit! It's been a few years since I did any beading or stringing. It is a great solution. My goal is to have a casual string, which may be a reach with more uniform pearls. I thought...

Mixing and matching - stringing a mix of beads and pearls safely

Hi friends. I recently picked up a nice vintage string of 7.5mm akoya pearls. I would like to re-string them into a mixed necklace with a few gold or gemstone beads. How to you mix beads with different holes sizes for knotting? What spacers are pearl safe? Thanks in advance! Seller auction pics:

    First purchase

I believe the Pearl Source grades to AAAA. They do not look bad, but I agree that "okay" may not be where the heart is. South Sea pearls do have a satiny look compared to a harder shine of Akoya, or even some of the newer large freshwater that can give anything a run for their money looks wise...

I have a ton of Filipino pearls

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I find the metallic luster on earrings like this super flattering on! Hope you try them on....well, if you can look past your first impression :D.
