Multicolor Tahitian Pearls, The Amazing Journey Part 3

Wow. Speechless. I have been trying to put together a multicolor rope by cobbling together strands and pearls from here and there but wasn't having much luck. I should just have Jeremy and the PP team do it for me ;-)

    Attaching to a triple clasp

Hahaha... I cheat. I put the individual strands onto small jump rings (with bullion), and then attach the strands via jump rings to the triple clasp. It was much easier than trying to keep all of the strands un-tangled while passing through each knot.

    Just ordered some Pearllunar pearls...

I recently got my order from Pearllunar as well -- approx. 9.0 mm button fwp. They're fine for what I paid (approx $70). The shipping was fast, but they definitely aren't as intensely colored or with the lively overtones as the pictures. I'm glad that I just purchased one relatively inexpensive...

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Hi Pearlmutter -- Yes, the person I spoke to at PP said that they were just switched by mistake. I had let them know I would be happy to send back the pair I received, if they wanted me to, but she said that you were all set and didn't mind.... So, Thank you! :-P

    Yes Tahitian pearls are addictive!

That's clever. Thanks for the tip! I'm loving your collection of Tahitians -- it's true that since there are so many colors, one's collection can never be complete!

    Yes Tahitian pearls are addictive!

Great pictures! I love the bands of color on the baroques -- I agree that the baroques have so much character and often show such strong bands of color that they're my favorite, too. I also really like the earring findings on the baroque pair. My I ask where you sourced those from? Thanks!

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Lizard, just saw your response -- I think you're right about which pair I ended up getting. I hope the person who ended up with my pair likes it okay! I had to color-adjust the heck out of my pictures. Photographing on a white background makes the autoexposure go crazy because I think it's...

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Haha... looking at the pearls in person, I couldn't figure out which pair mine corresponded to. Now looking at the pictures, I think they are pair "G"...

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Lizard, welcome to PG and thank you for sharing -- they are absolutely lovely! As promised, here are my pair. IRL they are lavender with strong green and gold flashes (my favorite). I got these with just the bail put in, as I'm still trying to decide what earring finding to use. I am leaning...

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Ok folks, come clean on PG. Someone on PG must have bit on the January special: http://www.pearlparadise.com/Pearls-on-sale447.aspx The earrings went so quickly.... I clicked through the email innocently enough when it hit my inbox. I didn't even intend to get anything, I swear. Just for the...

    Freshwater rope

Aw, thanks guys and gals! This really was a fun piece to put together. After I read through all of the posts on Pattye's 100" rope thread, I dumped all of my baggies of pearls into trays and figured I was going to use as many of them as I could. I had originally planned to make a...

    Freshwater rope

Thanks, Bluebirrd! It's hard to describe. I bought them very early on in my experience and didn't know better at the time to be unhappy. I can see that there is only a thin layer of nacre at the drill holes the luster is different - more shallow somehow and I feel I can almost see the bead. I...

DLP, I like your priorities! I have also been loving football season as a time to put together projects while watching the games. (Go Pats!) Lol.

    r they real

With the range of wacky tests out there, I'm surprised no one has thought to recommend dropping the pearl into vinegar and quaffing it a la Cleopatra!

    r they real

Just out of curiosity -- is there really a burning test that someone is recommending that people do to test if the pearls are real?! I understand that some fake pearls may be plastic and would melt if burned, but other fake pearls are made of glass or other composites that wouldn't necessarily...

    Freshwater rope

Thanks, everyone! I've taken another look at the big champagne-colored Kasumis.... they came from a standard-length strand I bought off of a vendor on ebay and I think that they have really thin nacre. I don't know how to describe it, except that it almost seems that the nacre isn't entirely...
