To weigh in on StarryPearl’s inquiry, I do think you should seal the gilded area, as it would likely wear off with friction. A clear 2-part epoxy resin would be durable and unlikely to turn cloudy.

Bead core, bead eyelet, bead grommet. Some reinforcement of the hole would be advisable for everyday wear of a pearl on a chain, since the metal is harder than the pearl and could ultimately cause damage.
