You are correct - they are dyed CFW pearls. See how flat the colour is with no overtones and also the nature of the imperfections on the pearls indicate that they are freshwater.

I initially looked at these and thought lesser quality Tahitians but then I saw the four pearls drilled crosswise rather than longitudinally. The only time I have ever seen that is on CFWs. As you can see from Pearl Dreams example, it can be hard to tell.

Unfortunately your claim is not going to be assisted by the valuation because it states that there are 79 pearls and I have now counted the necklace 4 times, and there are only 78 pearls.

Because freshwater pearls, which they are from their shape, do not come in that colour without human intervention. These pearls were popular in the 70's/80's - I have some too.

It's a worry - I came to that conclusion too after doing a search! It's all because of BWeaves!

Hi SarahC, a pretty necklace. The K in a clamshell mark is for Kitamura Pearls. They have an online presence so you can see their history there.

There are slide on converters which slide onto the pin. Do a search for brooch to pendant adaptor/converter. The brooch is very beautiful.

Love it Jeg. Love everything about it. The torsade is wonderful but the necklace is just glorious - playful with tiny accent coral beads. And the whole with your outfit is perfect.

Also Australia, New Zealand and many countries in the Caribbean use the carat mark because of their British heritage. 9 carat is not only used for a more cost effective gold but also because it is a harder material and can stand up to wear and tear.

9ct gold is an alloy and I don't believe that it is mined at that purity. But, at the present price of gold, I wouldn't dismiss 9ct gold in any event.
