    A newbie's pearl journey

Love my blue keshis too, @A Breaker!! And thank you for the thoughtful comment.☺️ you make some very good points about color treatments, I guess it really depends from one person to another whether a certain type of pearl will work! As long as buyers are not being deceived by sellers, what you...

BWeaves Amazing Journey to Japanese Pearl Farms

I just read through this thread and thoroughly enjoyed @BWeaves' detailed way of describing what must have been an amazing trip! I follow Nathalie on Instagram so I've seen her reels of this trip before but it's nice to see it from a different perspective.

    A newbie's pearl journey

Ooh thank you for sharing this info, @jshepherd! Always learning something new in this site.🤓 I wanted to ask if color treatment in pearls is considered a good or a bad thing? Just curious because in sapphires, heat treatment is widely accepted to improve both color and clarity. It should just...

    A newbie's pearl journey

Thank you, @Merrily! I love layering my pearl necklaces, I've requested that all of them have adjustable clasps so I can adjust the length to mix and match ✨️

    Pearls for men

I agree with what the others have said here that pearls are for everyone, regardless of gender! I love seeing men wear pearls, and have also given a pearl necklace as a gift to one of my male friends. I think the suggestion of looking at celebrity photos of men wearing pearls is a good one. I've...

    A newbie's pearl journey

Last but certainly not the least because they're the most expensive pearls I've bought so far: 10mm Tahitian pearl stud earrings and a matching pendant set in 18k yellow gold. All my pearl strands only have silver clasps so I feel like I'm leveling up!😄 These Tahitians were described by the...

    A newbie's pearl journey

Continuing with my love of blue pearls, my next purchase were described by the seller as blue rose akoyas. I got a necklace strand and 6mm pearl stud earrings. They're both called blue rose but actually have different colors, I think the strand is more of a purplish blue while the studs are...

Pearl tastes CHANGING and EVOLVING? or am I just getting wierder?

Same for me! If I'm still thinking about a piece before I fall asleep at night, and that goes on for several nights then I think I really need to buy that piece.🤣 sometimes when I need to prioritize, I think to myself "if I could buy only one piece of jewelry this year, which one would it be?"

    A newbie's pearl journey

My second pearl purchase started with what the seller called cobalt blue akoyas in bracelet form, but I asked if she could restring it and make it into a multicolor strand and she very kindly said yes. So the cobalt blue akoyas were mixed with white, bluish gray and lilac pearls to create a...

Pearl tastes CHANGING and EVOLVING? or am I just getting wierder?

I agree that tastes change over time! I didn't like pearls before and now I have so many different types of pearls on my wish list, I'm having a hard time choosing which of them to prioritize because I have a limited budget 😅

    Japan trip - Pearls edition

I'm very late in commenting on this thread but what an amazing trip! Those blue baroque akoyas are gorgeous. I've never been to Japan but now I also want to go as a pearl tourist. I would need to save up to be able to buy some of the pearls on my wish list.😅

    Baroque south sea

From my observation, a lot of pearl shops here in the Philippines make their own certificates. They just print it on their own and it doesn't come from a lab. The reputable sellers who source from Japan have pearls that are also certified from labs in Japan.

Looking to connect with South Sea pearl farms in Palawan (currently in El Nido)

I'm Filipino and currently in the Philippines but I'm not an expert, just a casual buyer. Jeremy would be far more knowleadgable than me on this topic, but I would imagine it would be very difficult to build relationships with pearl farms just because you're in Palawan. I have tried to look for...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

These are stunning Tahitian pearls! I follow Kamoka on Instagram and it's my dream to be able to buy some of their Tahitians someday.🤞🏻 Also I hope I'm replying properly? I'm a newbie here so I have no idea if I'm doing things right.😅 but I've lurked in this thread and have seen so many...

    A newbie's pearl journey

Hello, everyone!! I'm from the Philippines, and I'm a colored gemstone girl who recently got into pearls. I'm also on Instagram with the same handle if anyone has a gem/jewelry account on there and wants to chat. I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to share that I've learned a lot...
