I would recommend JNBgems on etsy. I have purchased a lot of pearls from them over the years, both individual and strand-length, and the pictures are accurate and I think the prices are fair. I also love CMW. Their prices are fair and the pictures and videos are accurate for everything I have...

I also recommend Kamoka! And Pearl Paradise - Jeremy wears really fantastic tahitian strands so I'm sure they could do something custom for you. You could also try to make your own! There are great tutorials on here.

I use acetone all the time - it will ruin whatever remains of the faux pearls though, and I would not use it on gold-plated posts (though I have used it with gold-filled without issue). I would definitely try Pattye's method first (I have also had success with that), and if not successful after...
