I'm going to take the plunge!

Way to go! It is a lot of fun What kind of clasp are you thinking of? Or are you planning an endless strand? I found that to be quite tricky, by the way. If you use a clasp, I would recommend gimp for a nice finish. You will also need needles, of course. I find one needle lasts for 2-3 projects...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I have a carved tahitian. It is not as impressive as the Kojima one, but I think it is pretty. I haven't worn it all that much, but then I don't wear a single pearl as often as I wear strands. Note: this is a close up. It is about 10mm.

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

I re-did the larimar strand with the heavier beader's secret, and it worked well. So well, that I made a bracelet and earrings! Next I have some stick pearls and aquamarines.

    Stuff I Made

Lovely earrings! I really like the ombre effect. They look like fun to wear. Just don't wear near young children, human or otherwise.

Odd, the picture didn't post. Try again: Doesn't look like it's going to work. I think the internet speed is too slow. I'll have to try later. Sorry...

He is indeed a very special husband... I am very lucky! I had just enough tahitians and keshi to make a bracelet and earrings:

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

BWeaves, I see your point. I have orbit clasps on my regular strands. I confess that I wanted to see how an endless strand worked. My husband thinks he has a knot that will work better than the one he did before. He was in the Canadian naval reserve, so presumably he knows! (note: I am not good...

Oh wow! I've always loved the 'pearls filled with pearls' and those tahitians are wonderful!

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

This is not quite complete. For an endless strand like this, I have my husband tie and glue the last 2 knots because his hand eye coordination is much better than mine. We finished this, but it came undone the first time I tried to wear it. It is smallish tahitians from Wen and tahitian keshi...

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

More wire link, this time aquas: I got some nice tahitians from Wen and some keshi from Ehret, and i think I will string them together for my next project.

Pattye, I hadn't thought of layering the tahitians with the gemstones. It's an interesting idea, and I'll have to do some experimenting. I have a second very colorful strand, and I planned to hook them together as a rope, but the clasp on the other one broke. My husband thinks he can fix it, whew!

    Bountiful seahorses!

As my father in law would say when impressed: Oh, My, My! Those seahorses are wonderful, and they look wonderful on you.

Pattye, so far the Bead Source seems to be doing fine. I go there and often pay a bit more than I would online, but it is worth it to have it in walking distance. They are also a great place to go to for inspiration. The last time I was there, one lady had a smashing necklace made of long thin...

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

Sure, they're called Bead Source, 10606 W. Pico. I got my potato chip pearls there, and the larimar and fan, the silk for the tanzanite, and various other things. Oh, and the silverite and the diamond bead. They have a pretty wide range of stuff, from very cheap to rather expensive. They don't...

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

I don't think the fan is vintage -- I got it at our local bead store -- a really fun place to go and play around. They are, by the way, down the street from Pearl Paradise. Maybe next Ruckus? Today we have wire link emerald beads (I've been on a wire link rampage).

    Fake ebay Mikimoto’s? “Vintage 14K M clasp”??

I know Mikimoto has used silver clasps in the past. That they used 14k seems reasonable to me, but I don't know. There are fake Mikimoto clasps out there. I'm sorry not to be of any help.
