Akoyas do come in golden shades. Maybe your pearls aren't supposed to be white?

If you decide to go with macrame, keep in mind that white cord will get dirty fairly quickly.

So ... walnut shells will be abrasive. You will be removing nacre, and Akoya pearl nacre tends to be relatively thin. In the original polishing, walnut shell bath is used to remove oyster residue, but you're way past that. I'm wondering ... why would you want to do this? I think vintage Akoya...

Please don't hate me for saying this, but I think you can find something similar without too much trouble. I did a quick search for "shamballa pearl bracelet" and got a lot of results, some as low at $20. It may take you some time to find pearls with different sizes, and higher quality pearls...
