I agree, experiences are good gifts; it sounds like the "surprise" face to face may be the experience. Diamonds are good. A special book. A watch, engraved on the back.

I thought that, too, especially since the black pearl is almost opaque, but Bluewater said they're gritty. Not sure.

They appear to be dyed freshwater pearls. I've seen descriptions that use "Tahitian" as a color description rather than describing pearls from French Polynesia. You will see eBay listings that say "Tahitian black" for freshwater pearls.

Double pearl earrings always make me think of Elizabeth Taylor in "A Place in the Sun." Very pretty, very wearable.

I vote AAA for the studs -- they are near your face! I find that I wear pendants more often than strands, but my lifestyle is casual. I prefer pendants in the summer, too, not as hot and sticky.

It seems like a job that would require travel, much like the artisans who do the nucleus implants. I believe they are contracted by the pearl farms. Or, maybe you mean grading for jewelry manufacturers? Everywhere you go, ask, ask, ask.

Several years ago, I remember Jeremy describing some pearls as "eight way rollers." Perfectly round, very expensive.

The GQ article mentions that the buttons are glass, so I think the pearls are genuine. I'm looking at the earrings -- canary diamonds?

I'm not sure if the images are in the correct order from your post. My guess is that 966 and 967 are imitation, but it could be image quality.
