I think these 6 pearls are real

Could be your mother's mother or your mother. I will bet the 1990's with the wire... it was coming into popularity. But people do get great grandma new necklaces. People even get grandma new necklaces or bracelets. There was even a "learn to make your own jewelry" thing in the 1990's and...

    Information on Baroque Pearl Necklace

I have 1 similar...I am guessing in the 60- early 70's. There was the graduated akoyas sold to military (and others) but they tended to be round...it seems that someone landed on the idea that baroque akoyas sold in long strands with fancy clasps. This was before the rice pearls were...

Help me identify these pearl necklaces and the estimated price

Some of the value in the dark ones is the double strand clasp... see if there is a mark on the clasp. For some reason double strands are more popular & the clasps more expensive (Value of gold).

    Are these sea water pearls

I am sorry to say, that is usually a mixture of cigarette & other stains. You can try cleaning, but often the coating of the fake pearls comes off. The clasp can be used on a strand of real pearls though.

    Pearl Bracelet

Are you needing this for insurance or for dividing the estate? I have dealt with the later.... if so, take the middle # and finish the estate. Pearl fashion come & go, for insurance, appraisals need to be recent, because values will go up & down. (Crazy, but true.)

Please help identify these , 65 pearls not sure where from, my mother gave them to me thank you

Here is the problem with having a jeweler clean and restring... They must pay someone else to do that then charge you their fee on top of the restringing.. If they use silk, it really needs to be done every 2-5 years. For very little (Needle, string can be silk or synthetic , gimp & glue) you...

Vintage Genuine Freshwater Pearls Knotted Sukhmani Necklace

I think you also posted this somewhere else. Not very expensive freshwater. Depending on the paint, you can try nail polish remover to make it look more like you want....but full removal will be very time consuming. Look on EBay, under used & see if you can find something that looks like a...

    Identify Jewelry Mark

For a little while companies like B of A, HP & others were giving female employees pearl bracelets with award tags. Often the tag can be removed. Sometimes the pearls were real...I have seen both freshwater & akoya...sometimes not.

    What are they...50's - 60's

Around 8mm. Douglas..In general for 1950's: were round, but thin nacre more valuable than baroque with thick nacre? Or is big baroque more valuable than small round? Any idea historic valuing in the 50's?

Found in a box of costume jewellery…

If I had to guess...the clasp is from India... bezel and nicely done, but my limited experience is, that Japanese silversmithing is more refined. I would take it to a jeweler to find out what the stones are... that will probably give you a better idea of the time period. If they are glass that...

    What are they...50's - 60's

I have never seen them before.... Do you think they have a bead? I know tastes come & go, but would these have more value than round akoyas with less narcre? or less value back in the day? The string is broken & needs knots would you put on a new clasp?

    What are they...50's - 60's

Help, what are these pearls? These are vintage from 1950's - 1960's (by the clasp) and I am guessing they are akoyas...but they look strange. There are no knots, but these are lightly gritty. Thanks

    Quick Mikimoto question

There are some treasures on eBay...but the $ does not make authentic! If you can spot akoyas in photos, you can get lovely pearls. But for you to be really happy....stick with people who know!!! Get something that sings to you!

Where to buy loose gemstone beads?

I have liked Tejas Beads for small gems...but for big gems...there are Gem & jewelry shows in most big (& even small cities) I would go and look in person. Bella Findings (great for typical pearl clasps) also has gem stands... nice quality but I only bought 2 inexpensive ones. You might see if...

Have fallen in love with pearls since inheriting some :)

Clasp looks like Mikimoto...probably Mikimoto pearls (only because) she always meant to have them restrung.

    Mikimoto strand

The easiest way is to put Mikimoto 3 strand (gold or silver) into eBay terrapeak, it will tell you what that has sold in the last 90 days. Do remember that Feb might be a slow time for vintage jewelry...unless someone is buying them for Valentine's. Be aware, that if they really need...

    Quick Mikimoto question

My concern with the brooch is that the seller is in NY, yet seems to have a huge amount of Mikimoto.... Yet not in Japan...seems weird. That particular pin back is from the 1930's so not actually antique. The Pendant & earrings look much better! But pendants & earrings can be "matched" after...
