I chose sterling silver, but the offer was 14KWG. It feels gritty, cold and heavy. But also believe it could have been a dyed fresh or salt water pearl. I bought a set, will post later

Actually, come to find out that what I thought was the back part is actually the front. The ring was absolutely not what I hoped for. It sat about half inch from the finger. I took the shells out and left one, but nope, still looked bad. I feel it much safer on a pendant anyhow. Still...
