I've seen pearls at T J Maxx and they aren't all that bad. Usually it is someones overstock, they aren't there because the quality is bad just because someone had to much inventory and sold it off at or below thier cost to reclaim some money. If you like the style buy it....

If a nucleus breaks loose in one of my pearls it finds the trash.

Also when pearls are in a display case for to long the color tends to brown out a bit, maybe that is what is meant by "died".

I can see some off rounds in that lead me to believe they are indeed freshwater pearls.. Regardless, they are a very nice quality

I agree with this, you can get a very nice AA pearl slightly off round and then get an AA+ pearl that overall is the exact same pearl but instead of being slightly off round they are round making them just a little more valuble. We sell A-, A, A+, AA, and Crown pearls at any given time our A-...

You can have a perfectly flawless strand of pearls but the luster and shape may not be that great so I would much rather take a high luster round pearl with very minor flaws graded as an AAA strand over a lower luster, off round but flawless AAA+ strand
