I don't think there's any reason to suspect they were dyed. That's a very common shade of lavender. That rippled texture you see, sort of like hammered metal -- It's a sign of thick nacre.

Wow - there is no way you can pass the course and still believe they are Akoya pearls. It's one thing to be ignorant, it's another to be outright deceitful.

I'm sorry but Tahitian pearls aren't purchased this way. No farmer is going to spend all that time growing an oyster and pearl only to sell it off site unseen. You have freshwater pearls, no way they are Tahitian.

Just a happy accident. I was told by a producer that they used to occur often because the shells weren't fussed with as much. But now farmers move and clean their shells a lot more, which lessens the chance of a perfect drop. I can't say if it's true or not, but that particular producer is...

I'd agree with Pearl Dreams. These look like Chinese Freshwater pearls, not much value here unfortunately.

There's no time limit, take your time. Some people may never "finish" the course, but just refer back to it when they want to look something up. Please feel free to use the course as it suits you.
