Chanel and Vogue Spring 2014 - Do or Don't?

Browsing around today and found the new front pages of Vogue Italia, Harper's Bazaar UK and Vogue Australia- it seems like this might be the new thing for Spring 2014 by Chanel. What do you think of this humongous pearl look- would you wear it...

Views on Pearl Factory, Pick a Pearl, and other pearl-in-oyster businesses?

It's definitely a bit of a rip-off, but I tend to agree what they're selling is an experience so not totally terrible. Otoh, I was just yesterday visiting with relatives and one cousin was telling me all about the 'wish pearls' they found at Sea World in San Diego, and how the pearls were just...

Found pearl in oyster at restaurant! What kind is it?

Agreed- that is large for an edible oyster, usually they're more like seed pearls. Would love some more detailed photos to explore the mystery further...

What kind of pearls do I have?

Hi There- Great photos, very nice job. I don't think the millimeter measurements are correct though- 14-26mm would be HUGE, and would be larger than the battery shown next to them. This looks like a standard graduated Akoya pearl necklace, probably starting at 5 or 6mm maybe smaller. I do see...

    8th Tahiti Auction

That is a stunning Pistachio pearl- Wow. Do you expect to see a high increase in farmers focusing on large-bead pearl production so soon?

Are these good quality tahitians? Keep or not?

Hi Euro Chick and welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, those pictures are too blurry to see anything- I can't really tell if there are any blemishes and what they look like, so I'd urge you to try and repost sharper images. That said, if you purchased a pearl pendant that you're not happy with...

    iceberg ahead ring

Very cool! I love how sleek and modern it looks in the bezel setting you made, and the shank is a perfect match for the pearls' size. Two thumbs up! :)

    South Sea Purchase help

You'll find what you need in Hong Kong- the prices are much better there than actually in Australia; Pattye is right though in that the purchase should be in volume- that way you can spread out the pearls to get better value from your buy. Good luck! :)

    Are these freshwater pearls?

Funny, I was thinking keshi myself. The flattened, asymmetrical shapes, size and colors all remind me strongly of keshi pearls

What do think ? Natural or not ?

I love them! They look so great on you! So dainty and pretty and lustrous! I'm really pleased with the luster. Congratulations on your new natural pearl necklace! :)

    What naturals are pink?

Nice colors, but the pearls appear to be 'newer' than the brooch, or is it just me?

    Greeting+question regarding price

Stunning!!! That is an absolutely beautiful strand! Assuming that the necklace is AAA grade all the way through, I'd say you'd be looking around the $6,000-$8,000 range from a vendor online. If you go through a brick and mortar location, you could be spending at least $18,000. That's just an...

The 7 strand natural pearls that sold for over 9 millions $ in Geneva yesterday

My pearl hunt travel journal 2013 Cook Islands

I know I'm a little late to the party, but those are really gorgeous photos- both the islands and the pearls. What a great way to start the day by looking at them! Thank you for posting!

    Amazing Luster - Cortez Pearl

I LOVE Sea of Cortez pearls- someday I swear, I will come down and raid your shop, Douglas!! It seems like the pearls get more beautiful every year (or maybe that's just me longing for one of my own...)

Anyone know what happened to Annie Popes on RubyLane.com?

I noticed that RubyLane had a wanted ad out not too long ago; seemed like a fun job, but I'm not an estate specialist. Anyways, they were looking for new people for sure.

    Graduated Keishi's?

There does seem to be a pronounced color difference between the two- it looks like vintage Akoya mixed with newer FW to me. Maybe a project was stopped and started again?
