I will try and get some good pictures taken next week...i won't attempt to clean the necklace in case i ruin it. I found someone locally that knows pearls really well, i will schedule an appointment sometime soon. All the pictures in this thread are of my actual necklace, nobody else's. Thanks.

I am on the east coast of Canada (Quebec). I will start with Birks, just to see what they might know about this necklace. There are lots of jewelry stores in my area, but i'm not sure they would be familiar with pearls. Are there any other 3 row necklace photos similar to mine in the...

I think i will just go to Birks next week and see what they suggest. As nice as it is, i don't think this necklace will ever be worn by me, so it's probably just best to find out what exactly it is, then find a new owner for it that will take good care of it.

Ok great, thanks Alison. I guess if they are only cultured pearls, no need to get them insured as they won't be worth all that much? I inherited also a lot of gold...i know it's a pearl forum but thought i'd share this pic anyways...the one in the middle is from Birks,i have lots more gold...

Thanks. Would a regular x-ray of the necklace be ok? On Monday my son and i have a dentist appointment, and my dentist for sure could take an x-ray of the necklace...i don't mind paying for that and posting the x-ray here if it could help someone identify it. I think this forum is awesome...i...

Thanks again everyone for all the responses and feedbacks. I had mentioned the wooden South African box, because coincidently the necklace and quite a few other items were in there also. I really have no knowledge in jewelry at all, so please excuse me for this. I am actually a collector of...

Would i need to leave the necklace to have it evaluated and looked at or could they do that on the spot in front of me? Mailing it would not be an option for me. I saw a finished e-Bay auction for a pearl necklace...was that a normal selling price for a necklace like that...

Here's another pic of the clasp in the direct bright sun from yesterday...you can see more of the "sparkle". It's weird that the camera doesn't pick up the diamonds well in the clasp, because under light you can clearly see them if you move the clasp side to side.

The pearls i inherited, look very very similar to the ones in the e-bay auction link...only difference is between the 2 clasps, plus my necklace has more pearls. I only have an old camera, and i'm not very good at taking pictures...but the necklace and clasp in person looks so much nicer...the...

I don't have the best camera...i have a pic yesterday of the clasp in the direct sunlight, and i just took a pic of the gold tongue of the clasp. I think there is a marking on 1 of the sides of the clasp but i can't see it too well...i will try and find a magnifying glass and look closer. Here...

I am located in Canada. We do have a very well known jeweler called "Birks" . This pearl necklace was with a vintage wooden box with a south american design on it, also in the box wrapped up was a piece of what appears to be a volcano lava! If you want to see more pictures of the necklace...

Thanks again for the responses. My father had told me before he passed, that this was a very high end piece of jewelry...and after some of the posts here it appears it may just be. My concern now is finding someone who i can trust look at this necklace and give a proper appraisal on it. I'm not...

I can't seem to find any marking's on the clasp...could it have worn off maybe? Maybe i should buy & look with a magnifying glass?

Thanks GG for the quick response. So you think these are for sure genuine pearls? Do you recommend i get them appraised & insured, or do you think i could just leave the necklace in my jewelry box at home? Thanks.

Hi again. I tried to take some pictures but they didn't really come out, plus i did them in the sun...but for now here are 2 pictures of the front of the clasp with the diamond in the middle, and a picture of the back of the clasp (gold). I will try and do some more pics today or tomorrow. I...

Hi everyone. I did do the tooth rub test, and i also gently rubbed the pearls together and the do feel "gritty" and not smooth...there appears to be no pealing anywhere and the holes look to be very small and tight on the necklace. I only received the necklace yesterday evening, along with quite...

Hi everyone. This is my first post here, as i was looking for some information on a beautiful pearl necklace i inherited today. I am not familiar with pearls at all which brought me to this site. So today i inherited what appears to be a real genuine pearl necklace. It has 309 pearls on it, and...
