Thanks for the comments and advice. I still would like to know, if i have my dentist x-ray some of the pearls, would this "maybe" help determine/confirm what they are (cultured/natural)? . I plan on going to Birks either Thursday, or Friday, to see what advice they may offer. It's killing me now...

I know what you mean Pearl Dreams! I just heard back from the appraiser...he now is insisting on me leaving my pearl necklace with him to be evaluated, and he said if i want to have the x-ray's done etc...that he needs to send it to the US through the mail service. I am not comfortable at all...

Good morning everyone. I'm a bit shy to post a picture wearing the necklace lol. My mother had a very very pale complexion, with auburn hair and most likely my grandmother was the same. I am going to try and go through some old photo albums, i do recall my parents having a couple of pictures of...

After i find out what necklace this is, i will then probably have it professionally cleaned to make it look it's best possible. They look a lot more yellowed in the pictures...it's weird...in person they are beautiful. I just tried them on and they look great, and the wear and hang well because...

I just gently wiped down the 3 strands...they seem a bit cleaner actually! I went very easy on them, i don't want to damage them. After reading many posts, i don't think all pearl necklaces like mine are supposed to be white? There are many different colors i thought...i just wish somebody said...

Lisa, i never met my grand parents, they had passed away before i was born in the late 1960's. My mother and father both smoked...quite heavy...most likely my grand parents smoked also. The pearls are much much nicer in person than in the pictures...it's weird. What kind of soap should i try...

Lisa, i promise you i have not touched the pearls or any part of the necklace at all...i won't take the chance. The only thing i need to do is get them looked at by a professional...I think i may go on Thursday. If i were to get my dentist to X-ray the pearls, should i do just a small section of...

The 3 strands are "roughly" 18.5" - 20" each from first to last pearl. I don't know what size they are as i don't have a caliper tool, but the pearls have a very nice finish to them in normal light! You can even see my camera reflection on all the pearls.

I decided to try some photos in my basement with a fluorescent daytime light, on paper towel and on the "flower" macro mode. Here are 2 more pics for now, they definitely came out better than my other ones. I think you can see bigger pics at the direct links below...just clink the links...

After having read many posts in the forum today, and seeing pictures from others it's hard to tell, but i think my pearl 309 3 strand necklace has smaller pearls than most pictures i've seen. Maybe not, but it seems like it to me. They do say good thinks come in small packages!

Well, in all honesty...no matter what the necklace is, or how rare it could be...if there is a collector here, that would really want this for their collection i would be more than happy for them to have it...that's just how i am. I am a big collector of something different, and i'm sure/know...

I like this site...it's really good! After i had inherited the necklace last week, i was wanting to know as much as i could about it, and after googling...i came across this website. I wasn't hoping to sell the necklace here, i was just trying to figure out it's age, and type of pearls they...

Hi Lisa. I will try and get pictures on the next nice available day. Tuesday is supposed to rain, so hopefully Wednesday i can get pics. Here is a full size pic i did a few days ago with other pics, in the sun (bad i now know)...but you can see the knots between the pearls...my guess is "silk"...

That's good advice lisa & Bacca! I guess getting them appraised/certified is the route to go. After having joined here...and having all the feedback...it's making me want to really know what exactly i have...i would love to know as much as possible about this necklace then report back to...

I just read up on the "candling" method, pretty neat. I also have these really strong tube lights, if i put the pearls close up to it and take a picture would this work? If anyone is interested i will do a couple of pics that way, or/and i could try the candle method also. Thanks.

Thanks again for all the feedback and ideas, i really appreciate it. I need to schedule an appointment to have the pearl necklace looked at by the specialist. After having read all the posts i'm wondering if it's even worth getting the necklace appraised...it appears as though in the posts that...
