    Two new chokers...

Speaking of obsession... I am always looking for new pearl candidates for a choker. I have bought several in the past year. The two news ones are very unusual FWPs from PP: A really splendid 14mm yellow drop and a comparably sized (horizontal) mauve barrel. Great fun, they are... The drop...

    I would like experts opinion

They look lovely - I like all the green overtones a lot. I had good success with pearl_society as well. I bought a strand of natural-colored akoya pearls from them (as I missed the specials that PP and TPO had in the past). I was impressed with what I received. Congratulations! John

    Opinions please (exotics, part one)

I agree - it is a lovely composition. I'm wish I knew something about beading - I'm feeling the urge more and more after seeing the lovely work the "lowly beaders" are performing (obviously not lowly at all!).

Did you get your exotics yet?

I received the strand of 8.5-9.5 exotic drops of Firday. The colors are magnificent, not to mention the surface, the luster, the sheen (I could go on). I couldn't resist trying the paper towel photography trick (you can see all the quilting of my quicker picker upper). Thanks so much, Jeremy...

These are absolutely stunning pearls, Sarah. I wish I had been in Tuscon just so I could have seen such marvels in person. Thank you so much for sharing them on the forum! John

Tucson - United States Pearl Co./American Shell Co.

Hi Gemgeek, Your hand looks like it is bathing in lavender pearls. They are lovely. There looks like some very nice pearls in there for you to pick out. I can't wait to see your "hand picked" necklace when you are finished. Be sure to show us! John

    Tom Stern's natural pearls

Thanks for the offer, Steve. I would like to have been able to do so. Unfortunately, I'm flying back to the office in the morning. I get to Florida a couple times a year for work, so perhaps the next trip... John

Carolyn Ehret, her pearls, and Josh in Tucson...

Great pictures - thanks so much for posting them. Josh, you are outdoing me... I need to get a pearl choker now for myself. If you can do it, I should be able to, right??? :p I blame you! John

    Tom Stern's natural pearls

Hi Caitlin, What a wonderful report! I can't wait to see pictures. I'm glad to hear the Dr. Stern and his wife made your visit to their booth so pleasant. I wish I were there (but I cannot complain as I have been in Miami Beach for a conference for work this week). John

    Tahitians go Victorian...

I am definitely going to look into beading. Several years ago, I took a class and did some fun bead earrings (not knowing anything about pearls at the time). I'm feeling inspired to learn now, though!

    Tahitians go Victorian...

They wonderful! I have to learn how to bead so that after many years of practice I can make beautiful things. These and the Rosary that was posted earlier really are inspiring. Thanks for posting the pictures. John

    PPBs Re-Revisited

What an interesting story, Steve. Of course there are many allures to all-nacre pearls, but this is sure illustrative!

    Crab pearl

Steve, thanks for your counterpoint. It is actually refreshing for me to see it. Sometimes skepticism takes over from just allowing people to appreciate what they will. After all, everybody has an opinion and it is important to respect the opinions of others. John

    David Beckham and Men's Jewelry

You're so funny GemGeek - I sure will take the opportunity to be in that list! We can add Pierce Brosnan as well (at least he modeled a Tahitian & leather choker on Italian GQ). I've branched out from Tahitian by adding a drop pearl Sea of Cortez from Care. What's next... John
