Are they FW or Akoya? I saw some strongly rose overtone baroques with great shine and was quite tempted.

    Y necklace questions

Yes...yummy...and if the last drop is a bigger sized pearl, it looks nicely 'finished'! This could also be an affordable alternative to a full strand of big rounds. Valeria, do you have a bigger picture of the Y lariat that you could post or PM me?

glass pearls and sterling silver findings

Actually, in Singapore, there are still fake pearls sold in the shops as costume jewellery and lately, I have been seeing lots of teenagers wearing matinee length extremely large sized perfectly round and flawless 'pearls' (At least 15mm).

    Freshwater Grading Comparison

I agree with starvingstudent ( because I'm one myself! :D ) Orient is not on my list of important considerations when buying a round strand since I think that the orient isn't that strong on round pearls anyway.

    Pearls arriving today...

To add on, am I right to understand that I should expect some imperfections if I order freshadama/presidential/elite/gem fresh range? I ordered a pair of earrings and they were flawless (ie no blemishes) so I've always expected the same of the necklace.

    Majoricas & Mikis

Oh, in the picture 'girl with a pearl earring' by vermeer, it has been said that the pearl is a majorica - not a real pearl. The pearl in the picture is an extremely lustrous oval/teardrop shaped pearl. Very pretty!

Freshwater pearls are better then Akoya pearls?

I have recently changed my mind about Akoyas being better because I have seen some gorgeous freshwaters here and I think they are so much more attractive and interesting than akoyas.

Can you see the orient in this?

The multicoloured strand is extremely desirable :p If you click on the magnifying glass icon, you would be able to get a bigger picture of the strand - not necc. clearer however - and you would be able to see the incredible luster as well as the orient on the pearls. The colours are gorgeous...
