    What are these?

Found one other of my gem therapy books, this one from 1957 again printed in India, "Gem Therapy" by Benoytosh Bhattacharyya, and under Pearl, I quote " Pearl is a shining gem found in several kinds of shell-fish but mostly in mother of pearl oyster. Pearls coming from Persian Gulf, Basra...

Can't fine some of my ayurvedic texts right now, I also have some Tibetan medical books, but did come across my copy of "Gems therapy" by Mahan Vir Tulli, pulished in Delhi 1994. He states "Pearls coming from Basrah and Gulf countries and Mediterranean region are of pure quality and highly...

    USA fraud

Just saw two supposedly Mikimoto on ebay last evening, one had the clasp hidden in the photos, no provenance given or any identifying description, and the other listing showed what looked like a cheap bead store clasp. Ironically both listed recently from two different sellers who both joined...

    What are these?

I too would be concerned about contaminants, the general concept in both traditional Indian and Chinese medicine has to do with balance in the body and the removal of imputrities, especially if we are referring to the Ayurvedic system of India. It would seem to me you actually would want to be...

    r they real

Personally I prefer a good blast with my shotgun, knocks anything that is not real right off the little suckers. :o OK, JUST KIDDING of course, but the concept of setting fire to pearls still has me laughing. And just imagine if the pearls had a little hair spray or perfume residue...

    Rice Krispie Pearls

Thanks Marianne, and now I am so glad I was scooping all these up over the past month, just went to my first bead show and not a krispie in sight. Lots of large weird shapes, but these very small ones just did not exist. Daddys Little Pearl

Natural Color, Deep Gold, High Luster, South Sea Pearls from Pearl Paradise

Absolutely beautiful! They are breath-taking for sure, and the color is just magnificent. I like the emeralds choice, I think emeralds are way too under-used as accents for statement pieces like this. Congratulations, well done. Daddys Little Pearl Antiques Jewelry & Sacred Treasures

I purchased an $800 pearl necklace... and now I'm not so sure!!

The" lovek RS INI" intrigues me, Lovek is in Cambodia, RS usually stands for Indian ruppees . Very strange. You definitely were cheated IMO. Daddys Little Pearl

    My First Bead Show Purchases

Bead Show round two: just had to have some more keshi, top drilled, in two sizes, much more lustrous than the photos look. Last photo are "peacock" pearls, actually not the real Tahitian ones, bur dyed freshwater rounds, the top group in true peacock colors are actually quite round, grade A...

Worst Article On Pearls Ever And Guess Where It Is

I was googling a specific type of pearl today and a very interesting thing came up in my search, one of those wonderful (not) ebay guides, this one on how to tell real pearls from fakes. By the time I had read it my eyes were crossed and I did not know whether to laugh (which I was by the way)...

    r they real

Pattye, how interesting the Burn Test should come up today, earlier today I saw by accident one of those lovely "Guides" on ebay written of course by the ebay "experts", this one was on how to tell real pearls from fakes and I was rolling with laughter when she said to burn your pearls to test...

    My First Bead Show Purchases

Marianne, I went back to the bead show again today (bet you all knew a new pearl addict would not stay away!), and had a chance to talk at length with the vendor. The photo of what I was calling keshi is a little deceptive, it does make them look like the little pancake shapes that are...

    Do Good Pearls Scratch?

Thanks, only place I could find it was at GIA at full retail with 10% off, seems they are running a little sale. I know there is a book recommendation thread, but what are your other personal favorites? I feel the need to have a well stocked library before I make too many pearl mistakes...

    Do Good Pearls Scratch?

Not scuffs around the middle, nothing natural either, human carelessness scratches, deep enough to show when lifting them helfway up to my face. Large Round Freshwaters. Makes me also think the nacre was probably not as thick as should have been for AA. Such a shame. Daddys Little Pearl
