Guy needs help: Advice on pearl earring size

Another option would be to consider dangles instead of studs (presuming your girlfriend wears dangles). Normally I only wear up to 7,5 mm studs, as I have tiny earlobes, but can wear easily up to 12 mm dangles. BTW, funnily I would be perfectly fitting into Naan's theory ;)

    Red sea pearls

Lately I got to hear often about the Red sea pearls. However when I did a search on them, I did not find so much about their quality and application. The ones I have seen were looking like steel-grey tahitians. Looking in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_oyster), I found that there...

Guy needs help: Advice on pearl earring size

Another factor to consider is that with the time, most ladies prefer larger earrrings, or pearls in general. That would mean that if you go with 9-10 mm it is more likely that your girlfriend would wear them for years. However you might want to check that the butterflys (backs) are large...

    Show us your Tahitians

In another thread there was a discussionthat Tahitians are hard to buy online as it is often difficult to estimate what kind of pearls will be getting based on the 'glamour photos' from the vendors's sites. It would be great to put together some examples how different pearls look in real life...

    Worn Nacre

I would say that the example shown here is quite an extreme case. Surely there is some wear but as a rule it is not that significant. Especially for necklaces I would not expect such dramatic results soon.
