    Philippine harvest strand?

Is there any particular reason you want golden south sea pearls from the Philippines? A harvest strand normally has baroque pearls, and golden baroques are hard to find in the Philippines, because the local buyers prefer their pearls round. I'm not saying Philippine pearl farms don't produce...

Did I miss out on the greatest deal of ALL TIME or did I avoid getting hustled?

Even if they were all costume jewelry, they look very well made for $55. I would have leapt at it. But I'm sure there will be a next time. Don't worry.

A little help would be very much appreciated.

I noticed that you are considering freshwater pearls. For the same price and size, you can upgrade to akoya pearls from the vendors frequently mentioned in our threads.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I will wear them as often as I can, but how to find enough occasions to wear pearls of that size?

    pearl stringing price

In Metro Manila, re-stringing costs between $2 to $4 per 18-inch strand. The shop near my office does such a good job that I've stopped re-stringing my pearls myself.

    Two earring styles in one

The second piece is called an earring jacket. Ross-Simons has several pairs on sale. Just make sure you're buying a jacket for a pearl earring, and not diamond studs. If you can find small vintage hoop earrings, you can make your own, like so:

As for me, I've finally gone off the deep end. I'm wearing my new golden klonks, 12.9-15mm golden south sea pearls. Surface is AA, nacre is AA+, and the shape is wonderfully round. It came with a 14k gold clasp that's a little flimsy for the weight of the strand, so I'm on the hunt for a sturdy...

Katbran, kelluvpearls's edisons are like the SoC's, Kamokas, and other women's Manolo Blahnik's. Such beauty is worth a few hours of sacrifice.

    Earrings from Greenhills

I understand that a few members bought pearls from Greenhills several years ago and got burned. But since I started collecting pearls, I found them to be forthright about whether they are SSP or FW, so I hope you'll cut Greenhills some slack. Most of the shopgirls don't know much more than what...

Baby nurse, it's great how your ripples both contrast and blend with your sweater! Today, I'm wearing GSSP drops in a faux lariat necklace. I can never decide if they're champagne or light golden with a green overtone; the color shifts too easily, depending on the place and time of day.

    Dislike of akoyas??

Not having read the post that uses the word "hate", I can only guess the context of such messages. Perhaps it's because Akoyas represent the classic white round pearls, and many of us enthusiasts prefer the coloured or baroque pearls for their character and variety. But I confess that for me...

My Sea of Cortez Mabes are Set

What wonderful SoCs! It's fortunate that you chose mabes that show off their multi-tones from all angles. Now that mine was set as a pendant, I can't see the pink and green as much.
