I have so much to learn about pearls, and so many more mistakes to make on that path. The pair of blue akoyas arrived today. I’m not thrilled with them... one has two flaws, small ones, but considering what I paid I expected both to have really clean surfaces. I will take some pics tomorrow...

Hi Mtummybear, I bought the Rikitea pearls. It will take a while to get them here (I am in New York and PParadise has been very busy) but I will certainly post pictures when I have them. I do hope I will love them ... I have some other Rikitea pearls in earrings and they are really nice. Linda

I have found it frustrating because there doesn’t seem to be any consistency about what happens at various times and on other days. But then I think they may be going crazy busy because of the Valentine’s Day orders.

My local jeweler has a pair of (white) SS stud earrings that I am interested in. They are each around 10.5 mm. My concern here is that they don't seem to have much luster. I have several white akoya pearls that have better luster than the SS ones, and a pair of metallic freshwater pearls...

I asked a seller about a 22 inch strand of blue akoyas. He has them available up to 24 inches but they are the baroque pearls. He did tell me that the hanadamas in blue akoya are certified at only 18", and that if pearls were added to that strand, it would not be considered certified for later...

I think Macy's is overpriced for pearls. I did buy some there recently, but that was at 60% off from a store they were closing. You can get higher quality elsewhere for a similar price.
