I have to agree with gravityalwayswins about getting your wife what she wants, not necessarily what you learn to be best. Is she aware she is getting pearls? Has she said she wants Akoya? Although I have learned a great deal about Freshwater pearls from this site, I am not totally convinced...

Just a question, but did you ask if they will set your pearl in the setting for you? Or if they are willing to sell you just the setting? If not, I suggest going to some local jewelry shops and looking though there books of settings. You may find it, or something close.

Wow! I just checked out the Apex store on Ebay and they have some great looking pieces at great prices. I'm still a bit hesitate, but it seems everyone here who has purchased from Apex has had a good experience. Again, this forum is so useful.
