    My first attempt!

Fingernail clippers - great idea. I bought cutters for that purpose. I wonder how many times I have to use them to pay for them?

    My first attempt!

I had to struggle to get my thread through the gimp - I mean it took me several pieces of gimp and lots of pulling. As it was my first attempt I found my thread size in relation to hole/gimp size was not ideal. I think you can use a smaller piece of gimp, leaving a smaller amount exposed. My...

    My First Tahitian Pearl

I love the idea of altering the setting to dress it up or dress it down. Can you show the different options?

    My first attempt!

I just did my first stringing last week, so I know how frustrating it can be. I think you did great!! Your wife should be very happy with your thoughtfulness.

On my way to my first real beading experience

I used a small amount of glue on my knots and feel it is secure. Here are some pictures if you are interested. Thanks again for all the valuable info. http://picasaweb.google.co.th/lisamla/PurpleFW?authkey=YOxrzdQp29w If you are wondering, these are 7-7.5, FW purple pearls. I bought them on...

On my way to my first real beading experience

I'm glad I asked, I wasn't aware I shouldn't use the thread zapper on silk thread. I don't have clear nail polish so I'll use a touch of glue. I'll have to remember the tip about putting the thread through a pearl after the final knot and then cutting. At this point, I think I am too late for...

On my way to my first real beading experience

Ok, I finished stringing my pearls, and although it was a bit rough at times, I made it and I think they look great. I have one question though, what do I do with the extra thread from my first and last knot? Do I just cut it as close to the knot as possible? I worry I may accidentally cut...

On my way to my first real beading experience

I few weeks ago, I purchased some loose pearls while on vacation. At first I thought I would take them somewhere to have them strung, but then l decided I could do it myself. I decided to turn to PG to determine what I would need to successfully complete the strand. I must say, you beaders...

    Has MikiMoto changed their quality?

I would be interested in seeing a comparison of A, AA, AAA, Hanandama, Freshadama and Mikimoto pearls (and anything else someone might want to throw in). I'm not sure if anyone has a sampling like this, but I still find myself confused over grading, especially when Mikimoto is thrown in. I...

The Pearl Outlet + Frederic Duclos

I like the look of the necklace and the way it sits, but I don't care for the bracelet as it looks too stiff.

The Pearl Outlet + Frederic Duclos

I saw a woman wearing a necklace with a similar design. It was quite striking. The one I saw was made of bigger pearls, but if the 1/2" guess is correct it will certainly be noticeable.

    Chocolate Freshwater from PP

I have matching issues, so I couldn't get the necklace and not have earrings to match. I really like the way they look together.

    Chocolate Freshwater from PP

I just received the chocolate strand and matching earrings from Pearl Paradise and I love everything. I requested two pearls be removed from the strand to make matching earrings. The strand to 17", 8.5-9.5 mm with a rose gold clasp. The earrings are set as leverbacks in rose gold findings...

What is most important to you when choosing pearls?

This is hard for me. I want everything perfect. If I have to rank, I guess it would be luster, roundness, blemish, orient. Of course this could all change as you say.
