    Help with this pin please!

I should have called it a quality mark to avoid confusion. In the U.S., there is an accepted generic definition of "hallmark", as well as the official one you are talking about, Wendy. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hallmark

    Help with this pin please!

Pretty pearl! I can't help, as I'm not an expert, but the only two pieces of jewelry I own with "silver" appearing as it does on your piece are a pin and a pendant from Japan, containing Japanese freshwater pearls (from the 1980s). Yours, however, is of a very different aesthetic. Where else is...

Pearl Lunar bait and switch lot 8188 on eBay

Glad everything worked out, and, most importantly, that you're happy with the pearls! I've only purchased from pearllunar once, but found them very communicative, and eager to make sure that I would be happy with my purchase (which I was!). Please post pictures of your new acquisitions when you...

Guy needs help: Advice on pearl earring size

I agree with Naan that ear size is important. I have a pair of 6-7mm studs, and they "fill out" my ear lobes in the same proportion as the 8-9 and 9.5mm ones do for the model in the helpful link Pearl Dreams posted above. I have larger Tahitian studs that I feel self-conscious about wearing when...

Quite Unusual, What Do I have? Appreciate You Looking (Thanks)

That is gorgeous!! I know what to put on my if-I-win-the-lottery list. :-) (NZ Natural Pearl, it looks like the website in your signature isn't up to date).

    Show us your Tahitians

I've experienced both the disappointment of ordering Tahitians online and not getting the colors I expected, and the joy of receiving pearls that were even better than the photos. Regarding the former, I can't find the vendor picture right now, but will continue looking (my picture of the strand...

    Just ordered some Pearllunar pearls...

I have only ordered freshwater earrings from Pearllunar, but I wanted to put in a good word about their communication. They were very forthcoming about color, matching and blemishes (and provided additional pictures to make sure I was ok with what I had purchased). I am very happy with the...

    Tahitian keshi studs

Hi Kelly - You might try Mana Pearl (http://www.manapearl.com/shop/tahitian-pearl-earrings.html). I have never ordered from them, but I believe other PG members have. I like their site because they show photos of the actual pearls you will be sent, and they include pics of someone modeling them...

    Tucson 2013

One final purchase from the 2013 Tucson gem show One final purchase from the 2013 Tucson gem show I visited the United States Pearl Co. at Days Inn (featured in this thread by GemGeek a few years ago: https://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2216) and picked up some akoya keshi...

Your first pearls - when and how?

Fun topic! Thanks for starting this thread, Huku! My first pearl, which is still one of my favorite pieces, was a Biwa pendant, given to my mom in the '80s and passed on to me. It's set in sterling silver, and came with a little booklet explaining how, unlike akoyas, these Biwa pearls didn't...

    A greeting with questions

Hi Josh - welcome, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Tahitian pearls are my passion, so I wanted to add my perspective. I love the first tahitianpearls.biz earrings you posted (http://www.tahitianpearls.biz/tahitian-pearl-earrings/drop_tahitian_pearl_earrings_with_diamonds_tead.htm)...

    Tucson 2013

I wish that every pearl lover could see Matryoshka in person. It is the most intensely-colored pearl I've ever seen, even from a distance, and shows different colors depending on how you look at it. Impossible to capture in a photo (though the "glamour shots" are very nice! :) ).

    Tucson 2013

I wish I'd had the foresight to bring my camera! Thank you for the kind words, Ramona, newberry and Pattye. I wore the pendant to a concert the other night and got compliments from colleagues. It is always fun to have jewelry with a story.

    Tucson 2013

Thank you! Thank you! I wanted to give a big thank you to Caitlin, Kether, Hisano and Jeremy for their hospitality. It was so much fun to meet other PGers and put faces to names in the pearl industry. I must say that both Caitlin and Jeremy were bad influences - each of them said something...

    Tucson 2013

Just wanted to clarify - the pearl walk is now scheduled for Wednesday, not Thursday, correct? How long do they generally last? I will have to reschedule some things and would love to have a rough idea. Thanks!

I will be happy to pay the $50 entrance fee and consider it the cost of education/entertainment, but I can probably only do that once. Is it known whether the other venues require a fee as well?

    Tucson 2013

Even though I've lived in Tucson for more than three years now, I haven't experienced the pearl walk yet - I'd love to tag along this year. I do not have a resale license, but noticed that some of the best pearl shows are closed to the general public. Will it still be possible to join you? I...
