    Some nice finds from E-Bay

After a couple of Pearl Paradise purchases last December I was of course still 'in need' of more pearls, but funds were a little restricted. I was specifically after large freshwaters. And so, I turned to e-Bay. I was pretty shocked by the frankly fraudulant claims of some sellers, but I was...

    Pearl Paradise Baroques

Oh thank goodness you haven't gone anywhere! Thank you for getting in touch Jeremy, I'm so relieved. Good luck with fixing the server problem.

    Pearl Paradise Baroques

Tahitian baroque strand with diamond clasp, silver grey body colour with aqua green and rose overtones, AA+, 9.4mm to 11.6mm. These were a birthday present to myself (well, any excuse to buy pearls). They were my first 'proper' pearl purchase: Another strand from Pearl Paradise, large...

    Some of xeresana's pearls

What an absolutely stunning array of pearls. I honestly don't know which ones I would pick if I had to pick a favourite, they are all so beautiful, but I have a weakness for the Tahitian baroques.

My Graduated Gemfresh pearls from Pearl outlet!

Kelly, those pearls are fabulous! The graduated look is so fashionable at the moment, what a perfect choice you have made.

GIA Pearl Grading Course, My Experience

Yes, that was absolutely what I found. I'm an interior decorator by trade and I have to be 'colour attuned' but there wasn't a single Tahitian or South Sea sample where I agreed with its 'official' colour grade. That said, the tutor didn't agree with a couple of them either, and it was agreed...

FW baroque 15 mm - are they nucleated?

Olmander, they are beautiful, I absolutely love the colour, and the little diamonds set the pearls off so well, you must be very proud of these. I know flat sides would be undesirable in earrings for obvious reasons, but I've heard it mentioned that some forum members try to avoid flat sides in...

GIA Pearl Grading Course, My Experience

I'm so pleased to hear from you all, I was hoping to gain others' impressions on the course. Pattye, you absolutely must wear your best pearls to the class! Serenity, I totally agree, a two day course (not necessarily on consecutive days) would be so much better. I hope some more forum...

GIA Pearl Grading Course, My Experience

Hi Everyone I wasn't quite sure where to put this thread, and I'm also very aware that a great many of you hold the Pearl Diploma, so I must apologise if I am being repetitive. However, perhaps there are some newcomers who are wondering about the one day GIA Pearl Grading course, and whether...

How often do you wear pearls?

You're right. They were all pearl specialists, pearl buyers, pearl website owners and so on. But they didn't seem to like them enough to wear them, and on that day of all days ..... I will say that the course served to show me how much I don't know about grading. Much as I enjoyed it, I still...

Can these two baroque necklaces be compared?

Oh my goodness, what beautiful pearls, they are breathtaking! I shall have to start saving ..... :)

Can these two baroque necklaces be compared?

Judgements should be based on the quality of the product you recieve (and the service) rather than speculation. I possess pearls from three of the main sellers mentioned on this forum. All are outstanding. I also have pearls from The Pearl Source. These pearls were exactly as pictured on...

How often do you wear pearls?

I wear pearls as often as is humanly possible. In fact I've just realised that I've come in from a long run and I still have large pink freshwater studs in my ears. What amazed me about the GIA Pearl Grading course last week was the fact that I was the only one wearing pearls. Given that they...

Did you get/give pearls for Valentine's Day?

Pandaexpress - how generous and thoughtful you are! Your girlfriend is incredibly lucky! :) I got pearls for Valentines Day, but I bought them for myself! Oh well, any excuse to have pearls ...... two strands of lavendar 9-10mm freshwaters, low priced, from my favourite e-Bay seller, there...

Can these two baroque necklaces be compared?

Jody - 'moderate blemishing' really is nothing to worry about at all. I have pearls which are graded in this way and you can hardly see the blemishes. The fact that they are there, and number more than one or two (often very small) marks on each pearl, would actually put it into this...

    Tahitian Multis

You are all SO lovely. Reading all these comments has perked me up so much, not least because I have learned a great deal from you all, and I can only aspire to your own pearl collections. Naughty Sueki has led me astray .... I had to get the big funky Pearl Paradise (freshwater) baroques...

    Tahitian Multis

Hi Raj and Sueki, thank you for the kind words. It's a 17" necklace of 9-12mm multi-colour Tahitians. I was specifically looking for that colour combination and I found it within my budget at The Pearl Source. I've also got some wonderful Tahitian baroques from Pearl Paradise which I'll...

Women in power II: a new wave of pearl fashion?

Yes, wearing 'power pearls' is certainly popular now. I was watching the various US presidential candidates recently on TV, taking part in their various campaigns, with their wives. All the women but one were wearing pearls - lots of pearls in fact, multiple strands, some of them were very...

Women in power II: a new wave of pearl fashion?

I think you'll find that prominent women have always worn pearls, I really don't believe it has anything to do with a new trend. Trends are for the masses. The variety in pearls is entirely due to their new accessbility, down to internet marketing.
