Since I already made mistaken FW pearls with Akoya previous, I’m trying to train my eyes as best to avoid the same mistakes. But some of them are tricky, below are 2 different strands, I thought the roundness and luster could be Akoya, but depends on the angles it could look like eggshape too...

It’s true these certainly looks like FW, especially paired with a sterling clasp. The clasp is accented with 18k and diamonds so I wonder which line would this particular design would fall into. Thank you for your lovely comments. It’s interesting to learn more about this brand.

It’s true. There are so much knowledge to learn. The last thing I want is to pay for an akoya price on a FW, no matter how pretty and well matched they are.

They look like SS to me. These clasps I see a lot from sellers selling pearls from Japan, very common even with more expensive varieties, especially the modern strand.

Has anyone had any experience with Judith Ripka Pearls? From what I can find, it seems like the designer mostly used Fw pearls. The shape and luster on this looks okay but I would really like to buy akoya. Has anyone gotten pearls from this designer? What’s your judgment on the quality? Many...

Hello from Vietnam here! The pearls I saw selling in Vietnam(locally culture) are of mediocre quality sold for premium price. There are many online shops though that sell pearls from Japan/Europe that are vintage at a much better price and quality. Hope this helps!
