Pearl Bracelet. What is this supposed to show?

Why say it seems very important?

Look at these amazing colors from freshwater edison pearls.

Shani, I had known what you were saying all along, but you never saw what I was seeing. The fading of natural purple Edison pearls—especially the ones produced by younger mussels, as some people say—is a real thing that plenty of us have experienced, whether we wear them or not. There’s no need...

Antique double strand PEARL TYPE ID PLEASE

I believe these are imitation pearls with incredibly thick coating. My reasoning is as follows: 1. Pics 4 and 7 show pearls with straight line shaped blemishes, Pic 3’s lower right corner also shows one similar blemish, which look like machine-made uneven coating instead of mollusk-made. 2...

    Metallic Pearls or Glass Beads

You could probably get the answer yourself with the help of a loupe. Just check the drill holes. I tend to think these are freshwaters.

    Are these real pearls?

I believe these are coated faux pearls, and the green beads might also be artificial (or may be green onyx?). IMO these "blemishes" resemble the work of molds, or collapsed bubbles, not mollusks:

How much color difference is acceptable?

Just like @Pearl Dreams said, lightbox photographing is a common practice. We want to see the best of the pearls, too, in order to get the most information about their colors, luster, etc. By comparing pictures and real pearls, we accumulate experience on what to expect for future images. The...

Are pearl prices on the rise?

Hours ago, Trump threatened new 50% tariffs on China. If it came true, that would be 104% tarrif on the CFW pearls. Can’t imagine.

    Tahitian keshi pearls

Hard to say. The seller of the necklace edits pictures a lot, I never dared to buy from her, but her shop does have good feedback score. The seller of the strands, I bought from multiple times, and her pics always reflect the true appearance of the pearls. The necklace definitely got some...

    Thoughts on a humble strand

The after-bath does look more like CFP, at least most of the pearls do. And there isn't a good chance natural pearls are mixed and strung with CFP, so I agree with the others. Again, great photos! I wish everyone would provide pictures this good when they ask about their pearls.

    Thoughts on a humble strand

I love this post, both the article you wrote and the high quality photos. Such a cool find in Goodwill!! I don't know what they are, but they somehow give me a natural pearl vibe. I don't think they are CFW. Waiting for real experts' opinions with you.

Is this a 1cm sized pearl? If so, is it millions of years old?

Are you sure it’s a pearl? It looks more like a factory-made thing to me. Does it have a drill hole? Cool to have access to a fossil area!!

    Are these Tahitians?

Welcome! Cmw is a reputable vendor in Hong Kong. Many of us bought repeatedly from them. Unfortunately, their shipping to the U.S. skyrocketed to $50+ today, and the prices are being adjusted, too, due to the new tax policy.

    Quick Mikimoto question

Glad you think that one looks better, too. I by no means meant that one was authentic though, I was just using it as a comparison to show how clumsy the other one was. Would you like to share the pics of the pendant and earrings with us?
