In search of info on pearl necklace plz

Hi Faith, look at the third pearl from the center (on the R side in the photo). It appears to be peeling by the drill hole. This might be artifact on the photo, or it could be a clue.

    Third time is the charm!

Beautiful goldens, Lilpearl. Congratulations on your trip into knotting land. As Pattye stated above, the size/combination of thread to use really depends on the size of the drill holes. Pattye's Serafil thread is so strong I never worry about it breaking with larger pearls or stones. Great job!

    Pinctada mazatlanica?

Great catch, Wendy. Wonder if there is a way you could call them out on their lies?

In search of info on pearl necklace plz

Welcome Faith. Pearls certainly do draw our attention. I see a spot on one pearl where the outer layer seems to have peeled away. Do you see this on others as well?

Is this white south sea necklace a good buy?

Welcome Pearl Bunny. I would go with a known vendor who I trust. Check this one out on Pearl Paradise. It has the luster and overtones you liked. The pearls are not as round, but look to have really nice skins. Many of us find baroque shapes to be more pleasing, made by nature...

My first pearl necklaces! Or, Addiction: Launched

Very pretty rope and clasp Pearlie Sue. I would recommend contacting Pattye (PatriciaSaabDesigns.etsy.com) and getting her pearl knotting kit. She sells Serafil thread (since 2013) and it is great for knotting pearls among other tasks!

Help with an intricate pearl “bib”?

Hi Camhatch, If you are new to off loom bead weaving, you might find the book Creative Bead Weaving by Carol Wilcox Wells helpful. She has very complete, well illustrated and easy to follow directions on multiple types of bead weaving including the netting technique used in your photo.

Help with an intricate pearl “bib”?

This is really pretty, Camhatch. This type of bead woven netting requires multiple passes through some of the beads. This can be difficult with pearls as their drill holes may not be large enough. You would need to try the required number of passes on the pearls as you lay out the pattern...

I have inherited some pearls and have some questions

I agree with pearlescene. The two round yellowish strands appear to be imitation (with a very pretty clasp). The pearl shapes on the station necklace are lovely.
