That is fascinating! I always just assumed they were worn as more traditional pendants.

    Body Parts

OK, I'm taking the bait and starting a new thread! I have collected lots of photos of figurative pearl pieces, but most have been beasties, so I'll start off by posting one of my own creations. I found the body parts at Pearl Paradise following a ruckus a couple years back. She is holding a...

    Octobabies!

I love the layered look, JP! And I have to thank you - it was your special-order inquiry coupled with my work on Anna's book that inspired me to make my very first clasp.

    365 Days of Pearls

I picked out those pearls for PP when I was in Hong Kong, and yes, my eyes were crossed after a few hours of staring at the amazing metallic whites to find the ones that "screamed". I remember thinking how the iridescent luster of the most spectacular pearls reminded me of soap bubbles. I'd be...

    Octobabies!

Linda, I love seeing how you used the octo with the pearls - he looks so happy! This is the first time I've seen the hooked octo used alone as a clasp, but I intentionally made that component for its versatility. I'm planning to make myself a bracelet using the octo as a clasp in the same...

The book turned out beautifully, with glorious photography and the perfect balance of eye-candy and information. Anna has done an amazing job, and I'm so thrilled for her that she has been able to share her passion and expertise with the world! And I'm thrilled for myself to have been given...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I so love seeing everyone's gorgeous pearly treasures! I'm wearing one of my most treasured possessions today - a finistrino pendant I special-ordered from Hisano a couple ruckuses back. I just love the way her creations feel equally comfortable worn with velvet or jeans. Lusting for more...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I have found that those little clear rubber plugs work great to prevent fishhook earrings from twisting out of the ear. Just cosy it up on the back of the wire behind your ear -doesn't show, and no more lost earrings!

That mabe definitely looks like a New Zealand paua abalone pearl, sometimes marketed under the name "blue eyris". Gorgeous pieces!
