Any thoughts on this necklace, are they south sea pearls?

The surface doesn't have the satiny quality that you would see in a SS pearl.

    Is this worth the price?

Most of the time, you can see where people live by the by line info. Truly a multi international band of pearl crazies.

Pearl Parties Are Taking Over Facebook Live, But Buyer Beware

I have an email list for my jewelry business of about 500 people. Every time I send out an email, I include a short piece on pearl knowledge. This is done in the philosophy that the more you know, the smarter you are! Today my email included the information about the pearl parties and a link to...

Chrsities Auction - A few interesting pieces!

Wow! Has this thread taken a different, but seriously valid diversion. I totally agree with everything. I have been on a wear it NOW campaign for all the wonderful "precious" items we have. I have even gone so far as to rescue long boxed beautifuls (crystal wine glasses) at estate sales and make...

Chrsities Auction - A few interesting pieces!

Hey there Pearly-Whites, Yes Jersey is right. If there are designated "natural", then they have a certificate from an established lab that has qualified that. They have to be VERY careful!

Chrsities Auction - A few interesting pieces!

I have the great fortune of working for Christies and being able to see these jewels in NYC ALL day! I find it really interesting that in their catalogues and descriptions, they never refer to the pearls as South Sea or Tahitian when they clearly are. Even when they have a GIA cert. They will...

    Fiji Pearls

Well...I just read this thread from the beginning to the end...here. I am going to plan a trip to Fiji, first. Then I am going to hope that Justin may be at Tucson show this year so I can see his harvest in person soon. Does anybody know if he or a representative will be there?

    Help identify pearls

Those rings have a very sophisticated name, Circle Pearls. Like any pearl, the "defects" can be their personality, as with Baroques. Yes, of course, when you are looking for investment pearls, you go for the 7 Qualities, but I suggest enjoying any pearl, just like a pound puppy!

New Harvest Vietnamese natural color Akoya pearls

Hello Cees. Where is your pearl farm? I think we spoke when I was coming back from Vietnam with some pretty fabulous, but just white, Akoyas. There were from HaLong Bay Pearl Farm. I was able to hire a junk and sail out there. I would love to know where you are going to market your pearls.

How Do You Store Your Pearls?

Always try to keep pearls as immobilized as possible. Even pearls rubbing against each other can cause damage. Pearls are organic gems and any abrasion to their surface will cause trouble. I am on the side of over protective for pearls. Especially if you travel, the vibrations on an airline can...
