Only 3 pearls in this “presto chango” fall necklace and earrings. Smokey quartz, amber, labradorite, onyx and purple freshwater pearls. And a removable turquoise pendant. I may rework the earrings to add some labradorite. Still perfecting my wire-wrapping but it’s fine for jewelry just for me!

    Very crinkly! I like them.

    Rice Krispies?

My mom just gave me this necklace she got from a friend in Hong Kong a very long time ago. Chinese freshwater “rice krispies”? They are quite tiny pearls. Last photo with an 8-8.5 mm pearl for size comparison.

My EBay harvest rope restrung as an endless necklace. Despite removing a few pearls and the clasp, I still ended up with 50 inches (because of the knots). Some pearls had very thin nacre and others had some damage around drill holes, but overall, I’m very happy with it! Especially for $230!

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

There is certainly nothing like them out there now. I have scoured the web and SM and asked various contacts with no luck. However, as others have suggested, I think I will play it safe and refrain since returns are not allowed and I have never gotten anything from the particular seller, who...

    Heavy 66" Strand..

They are very pretty whatever they are! Satiny finish, some with nice pink overtones.

The necklace that took 8 years to assemble is incredible. I like her earrings but they are so big, I imagine you can only wear them for a couple of hours at the most.

Any books or Websites on Vintage Japanese pearl Jewelry names and/or marks?

This is perhaps too late for the original poster. However, trademarks and patents need to be registered to be protected under law. I suspect that requirement applies in Japan too and that there is a Japanese trademark/patent database available on the web.

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

It is a 16 inch unknotted strand. Seller has only one available. So, it should translate into a 17-18 necklace, depending on the clasp and how I knot. Not the length I wanted, but I doubt I can ever find an affordable long strand on the normal market. The single strand, even doubled in price...

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

I would very much appreciate any thoughts on this keshi strand. Pearls are 7-9 mm. It’s not cheap - around the price of good akoyas. Thinking of buying.

I will think about it. You are a serious empath, ennui - even through the internet! I am really not inspired by it right now. I just look at the bracelet and think - it is so stupid. The long jade piece (apparently, an antique belt hook) is so long and so heavy, no-one would wear it as...

Welcome to the Lowly Beader's Club

I’ve got this clunking, completely graceless jade bracelet that I never wear. I got carried away at an antiques fair. I’m thinking of taking it apart and somehow combining the 4 smaller pieces with pearls . . . hmm. Suggestions welcome.

Why is it so hard to find a long necklace of Golden South Sea Keshis?

A great suggestion but I actually did ask the Pearl Guy last week and he said he only had the SSG keshi necklace you posted . . . which is not really what I had in mind. It’s too dramatic for me though it would look great on someone else!

I love the chain, the way the barrel-like shape of the pendant and earring drops mirror one other and the beautiful mix of colors in the SS earrings.

Welcome to the Lowly Beader's Club

Thanks, A Breaker! I will ponder that suggestion. I put the big gray pearls on the sides as an alternative to a traditional center focal but, yes, it’s a little unusual . . . hmm. Here are today’s projects. 32 inch blue akoyas with a cute druzy clasp. 36 inch de-stash necklace with all sorts...

Working from home on a Friday. Freshwater necklace and matching bracelet from Kojima. Non-matching freshwater earrings with sterling silver from Hannah Blount (overpriced pearls but to me, the designs are “chef’s kiss”). I may have to get these earrings in gold too.

Those are glorious, gleam-y purple-silver-gray pearls! I love that style of metal work with decorative granulation which I believe originates from the Middle East. These earrings are fit for an empress, so I can't help but picture you wearing it with a long purple toga!
