    Help Appreciated With Evaluating Item

That picture is very magnified and the pendant is tiny, smaller than the tip of a finger, just over 1 cm.

    Help with this Mikimoto strand!

If you want Mikimoto, that is a good price. I have seen similar pre-owned pieces go for a lot more than that.

    Mikimoto Pearls

It is probably an akoya pearl necklace from Japan (unknotted), exactly what it says it is in the listing. Nothing in the listing states that it is a Mikimoto necklace and the clasp in not a Mikimoto clasp, it is similar to one of the vintage clasps that Mikimoto used, but not the same.

    Mikimoto hallmarks removed???

I have not seen Mikimoto use that clasp design. One would assume if the hallmarks had been removed, that it would still be a recognisable Mikimoto clasp design, without hallmarks.

    Show us your Mikimotos

Not Heirlooms, these are from this years Mikimoto catalogue (US), the line varies slightly depending on the country of sale. I bought them for my daughter as a University graduation present (posted to AUS). They are deliciously lustrous. This photo was taken with a mobile phone indoors, it gives...

    Palladium perhaps ?

    'great' grandmother's pearls.

I wouldn't change the small one, it would ruin it. Wear it wrapped a couple of times around your wrist. It will look really pretty.

    Are these real Mikimoto Pearls

That is a Mikimoto clasp that I am familiar with, circa late 60's - 70's.

Wedding Pearl Jewelery - Know Very Little

I wouldn't wear anything around the neck with that dress. I would go for a lovely pair of dangly pearl earrings and maybe a pearl hair slide for the back of your hair, if you are wearing it up.

    What is fair feedback?

Scenario 1. Earrings and ring squashed in the post. If they have given you an 800 number to ring if you are not satisfied, this indicates that they value their feeback and will probably be keen to work it out with you. Give them a ring and give them the opportunity, see what solution they offer...

    Morning! Buttons vs round studs...

I agree, I think the buttons look neater, closer to the ear. Good luck with your purchase.

How old are these Miki pearls...

If you post a pic of the clasp, I might able to give you an idea of the date of the clasp. There is no guarantee that they are the original pearls on that clasp though, unless the box and paperwork (provenance) is available.

My Great-Grandmother's Pearl Necklace....Real? Fake? Approximate Value please???

I can't see the new pics yet. However, I would date the style of the clasp from 1930-1940. It looks to be milgrained platinum, which was a popular style around that era. Pearls as a wedding gift perhaps ? When did she marry ? Do you have a wedding photo and is she wearing them ?.

inherited some antique pearls with real diamond in clasp (pics)

My guess is that it's Art Deco, 1930's and probably platinum, the pearls are off round and that all fits for the 1930's. It is not often that you see real diamonds set in silver in the Deco era, silver was usually used for costume jewellery with paste stones. It could be Deco revival from the...

Could I have a valuation of these Akoya pearls?

Pearls are not usually knotted in Japan, that is done for the American market.
