Pearl Doctor / Pearl peeler ??

I'm just going to say I've been blinded by shinies and it has affected my mental acuity... yes.

Fake, Imitation, Laguna, Faux, Majorica, Majorcan, Swarovski Pearl Photos, Stories

Classy imitation -- With real pearls being so much easier to get these days than they once were, it's easy to forget how important costume jewelry is in the history of fashion. I bought these fakes because I was enchanted by the stories of the companies that made them. This Trifari strand is...

eBay Finds! (Don't get too excited, they're not fancy) --

I just keep... looking at them... they're so shiny... I'm currently practicing knotting on a small (tiny?) bracelet in preparation for making that long strand into smaller ones. All of you on the forum have been an inspiration. Thankfully the boyfriend sees this as something to do while he's...

    antique jade and pearl ring

The signature confused me at first too -- try going to your inbox, scroll down & look on the left-hand side of the page, there will be a link to change your signature. It doesn't seem to show up when viewing or editing your profile directly.

eBay Finds! (Don't get too excited, they're not fancy) --

They're definitely Chinese pearls. Most of what I paid was the shipping, a few of these were $.99 plus shipping. $50-60 total, for the whole lot. And they came with a free gift, some really pretty earrings with really amazing pink/green shine, they look about 8mm, flat backed, with rhinestones...

eBay Finds! (Don't get too excited, they're not fancy) --

I got my first eBay strands today, woo! They were MUCH cheaper than what I would have been able to get for beading (which, yes, I'm getting back into, because I just can't help myself,) and I was curious, and, well, I have a huge thing for flawed pearls (don't kick me) so I'm honestly happier...

Pearl Doctor / Pearl peeler ??

Very neat video! I wonder how long that whole process takes. Did anyone else see the onion reference and think of Shrek, or have I been hanging out with my seven year old for too long?

    How to re-set a pearl?

That's what I'm wondering. I could try soaking the stocking first and see what happens... this could turn into chemistry class really fast! If the pearl can be re-set without the diamond and not look odd, I don't care if I lose it. Or it might be an excuse to find another pearl... HM... And...

    How to re-set a pearl?

One more question that just ... became relevant. The diamond is very very tiny, and when I get this yellowish stuff off, it will be very very clear. I was thinking that I could possibly soak the pendant in the toe of a stocking, so the pieces will stay together? I wouldn't imagine that fishing...

    So pretty, but so...undrilled!

...at the risk of showing my nerdiness, those look like tamagotchi faces to me. And at the risk of getting kicked into next Tuesday, I'd probably be tempted to draw eyes on them. o.O So cute!

    How to re-set a pearl?

Hi again everyone! I recently got a pendant that has a pearl on it, and in that pearl is a tiny tiny diamond. It's quite a pretty pendant, actually, except that the epoxy/cement/glue/whatever was used to set the pearl/diamond isn't... great. There's yellowish residue on the pearl from setting...

    Pearl Dilemma

It sounds like the seller didn't tell you the clasp had been replaced. If that's the case, I'd return it on principal. If you do have documentation with it and want to keep the necklace, I'd have an expert look at it to make sure that someone couldn't have switched out the strands... buying...
