BW, Such gorgeous blues and so summery with the linen. What a collection! Today we headed to a matinee and I had a chance to dig out some favorites. This is a multicolored Tahitian strand from Amsterdam Pearls (Cees) strung on teal Serafil from Patricia Saab on Etsy. The faceted Tahitian...

BW, your Sea of Cortez lariat turned out amazing! What a great mix and match of pearls as it is very cohesive. Pearls and turquoise are my two favorites and today this is a mash up of the two. The keshi and tiny turquoise are from Kojima. The other is turquoise heishi that I strung with...

BW, Thank you for continually showing and reinventing new combinations of your collections. The ruby and pearl combinations are gorgeous. This is a South Sea baroque, keshi and faceted hematite short necklace and South Sea pearls from Daniel Moshi which I strung into a double strand with a...

BW…I absolutely love the pearl and gemstone combinations. It is such a modern take on pearls. Nearly all of my stringing designs are plagiarized from ones I have seen online. Here is one of my copies. The first picture was my inspiration. Pearls are assorted Tahitians, FWP, SSP’s. The south...

Ennui, I don’t hesitate to rework or take apart pearl jewelry that I don’t wear and that I don’t particularly like any more. Tastes and lifestyle change over time. BW, such beautiful blues and no one does mismatched earrings better than you. Pearlylibrarian, anything you put on that gorgeous...

BWeaves, such a wonderful ombré strand. I hope your hand heals well. Amoreperla, lovely coppery baroque strand. Pomelo, stunning Tahitian. I don’t usually go for dyed freshwater pearls, but I love the “oil slick” iridescence of these. I bought them at a jeweler in Solvang, CA and restrung...

SurfnSci and Jeg, Both of you have amazing wire wrapping skills with stunning pearls. Today I have 10mm Tahitians that were sourced several years ago from Jac on Etsy who no longer has a storefront. They were initially in a tin cup and I recently reworked them with a multicolored sapphire...

Jeg, once again a stunning combination of fashion and gorgeous pearls! I have been fixated lately on the combination of pearls and gemstones. I am not a huge fan of golden SSP as it doesn’t compliment my coloring so I don’t have many. This is my latest project consisting of an off round...

Pearls broke my pearl reamer - any suggestions?

Taemint, That is a very nice result and Pearl Dreams I appreciate your hint regarding temperature changes. The pin vise does allow you to get a better grip as you work. Ha, ha when I just need a little bigger hole, I use endodontic (root canal) files as the metal is of high quality and will...

I have some Sea of Cortez stud earrings that I bought from the Tucson Gem and Mineral show several years ago and the color they look best with is pink. These are drilled and set in platinum findings from Gempacked. I will always try to reference sources should I post more.

It is so interesting that you are playing with Sea of Cortez mabe designs. I was bought a mabe from them about ten years ago and am considering just now settings for it. I think that my mabe blends best with pink (sapphire), blue (sapphire), amythest and peridot.

The Columbus Pearls: Archaeology, Science & History

I truly enjoyed listening to this and to learn about this incredible history of natural pearls and the conditions and geography that created this phenomenon. A question as to what happened to the archaeological find of the pearls that were discovered buried?
