I would take a different angle and try a strand on. I wear a ton of pearl jewelry, all strands and strand bracelets. Some choker - some long. One of my favorite strands is a GSS chocker. Maybe a nice Tahitian strand - dark overtones would be a nice comfort zone.

Another knockout strand from Cees. South Sea Golden,White, and Blue White Baroques on the harpoon system. Not sure about anyone else but I'm really liking this system especially for a choker strand. The strand seems to hold its round shape better around my neck. Cees is great to work with...
