    Hello Everyone! Newbie here

In terms of investment purposes for the 'average' person, of course gold would have been the smart choice starting from about 25 years ago (for those old enough today for it to apply). If you invested $3,600.00 per year in gold ounce bars from 1986 and sold in January 2012, you would have...

    Good pearls vs. play pearls?

When I first started out, I thought A+ and AA pearls were awesome and special...now I personally consider them to be "play" pearls I suppose. Pearls that I would not really care about if my daughter wanted to dress-up in them and run around the house...or ones that the wife can wear basically...

Any reliable , quality and reasonable jewellers to re-set my pearl Earrings ?

"what type of earrings?"; studs, dangles, some designer type. A picture would be most helpful especially because we're talking about pearls...and it may not always be possible to remove a pearl from metalwork without damaging the pearl.

Finding the perfect gift for my girlfriend

Echoing sort of what Caitlin said...the image you referenced is actually a bad PhotoShop job. When you zoom in, you can actually see where the 'cut and pasted' the pearl to the pendant. You can also see where they missed erasing a few image edges. Also keep in mind, that a "0.06 carat...

First Attempt at Pearls on Chain

I don't know about Sarah's designs, but the pearls shown in my two images have been secured in place with a clear "cement", to prevent sliding on the chain.

I'm going to be brave and attempt drilling a FW pearl, but first... recommendations?

I find I use it much more often than I had first thought I would. I don't know how others prepare the ends of their necklaces and bracelets (when using silk), but I pass the thread back through several pearls (after securing the clasp of course)...and I often find the pre-drilled holes are not...

I'm going to be brave and attempt drilling a FW pearl, but first... recommendations?

If anyone is interested in a machine like this, I just spoke to my contact in Beijing for updated prices and costs...and for $380 USD, here is what he can provide... - 1 x horizontal pearl drill kits (includes tool kit, brass and plastic pearl cups, 5 drill bits and sharpening stone) - 50 x...

    I think I've been had...

I totally agree - and if any of my replies in this thread gave anyone that impression, I am deeply sorry. I have many friends who are Chinese and I do not think "all" are crooks (and I'm not saying that your post Wendy, implied that towards me in any way either).
